Technical Biggggg problems

The million dollar question! At the end of the day, they are a company that build cars down to a price. It wouldn't be very good business acumen for them to be that responsive to customer issues. If they were, expect to be buying a FIAT Grande Punto for the same price as an A3...

With regard to FIAT dealers basing their warranty claims on what they read on a forum, I am sure there are various legalities with this which would not necessarily back them up if you took them to court over it. Letter of the law demands proof beyond reasonable doubt... Can they prove that that car they've seen online is ultimately yours? Can they prove that you haven't just been bullsh!tting the other people on the forum? As I said, I dunno about the legalities of it all, so was just chucking an idea out there.

That said, if you increase the power of your car by about 50% using only standard parts, as a previous post stated - accept the increased risk of a component failing.

Depends how you use that increase really. Your comment applies to all modding not just engine performance, lowering is a perfect example. No matter how you drive a lowered car the change to drive-train angles is always working on the car in a negative way.

My car is now out of warranty and I am confident it will be fine as I use my performance increase as and when needed not to show of with bragging rights, for me it was a natural thing to do as my car is a working car, for that very reason I need it to be reliable.

Personally I think most Fiat faults are caused by ignorance and lack of maintenance (the exceptions being the Fiat "known issues by model") which warranty rightly resolves.

If Fiat actually read this, then why aren't they doing anything about the complains we always see?

are you expecting an official response on the forum?
not gonna happen

what response would you expect to see from Fiat on this thread?

Did I ever say I expect them to respond to posts?!

I was referring to them fixing known issues.

One of the simplest things could fix that's a regular problem here, is cars not arriving as ordered.

You can easily turn that around though.........'terms of warranty'

That could be customers/salesmans fault aswell.

or saggy glove box doors lol

Probably cheaper to replace than design new dash?

do they do like a health check of your engine before they map it to see the start of any leaks or damage, if nothings found then this happens how can the map not affect it? if you know what i mean. im quite for a map but want to be able to upgrade certain 'high risk' components at the same time.

sucks to hear about the car though hope you get the result you want from garage.

As Ffoxy said, if you look after it it should be fine.

Before I had mine mapped I had a full service and health check at a 'understanding' main dealer.

So far all ok

Frankly if you go down the induction/remap route then you know you are risking a problem down the line. Many people get more power without problems but a few do.
Whether or not the fault would have occurred without the remap is an unknown but Fiat are within their rights to refuse to pay for a repair when the car has been modified beyond original spec.

Its like over clocking a PC - you are putting more stress on the components than they were originally designed to handle. Anyone who thinks that doesn't risk problems is an idiot.

As for getting a map removed then taking to to a dealer I'm sorry but as an owner who sticks to the manufacturers guidelines I get angered by this. Ultimately if warranty claims are paid out in cases where modifications have caused faults then the costs of the product will have to go up. So owners not taking risks have to pay more.

If you have modified your car and it goes bang the least you can so is be straight and fess up.

I have to agree with this post but then again I dont really see the point of mapping....my simple view is 'you want to go faster then buy faster car'?

Some cars are dangerously slow especially when overtaking for example so I do have understanding in this situation for example & I can also understand 'modest' gains but there must come a point when (as the above quoted post stated) the stress on some components becomes too much.
