Anyone have any ideas about the earth fault on the grande active. the wire harness is located underneath the passenger footwell. ive had it fixed once whilst my car was under warranty. now its passed the warranty date ive got to do it myself. was wondering if any has had this problem or fixed. would appreicate the help!!!

where abouts exactly?

under the glove box, on the floor of the passenger footwell is a contection block for 4 wires. this is for the cars heater blower, when it went before i took it to fiat and the bloke fixed it within 5 mins stating it was a dodgy earth fault connect on that conection. he said that sometimes the passengers feet coulod have damaged but does it has happend before on the PG. ive looked at getting a new wire which costs £61.00. i think this is a lot for just a earth fault, the earth is the black wire in this connection. Any ideas????

you mean the heater resistor wiring, done loads & easy job, the loom runs around back of heater box to drivers side and back up to heater controls, also to recirculation valve and main connector under centre consul so for £61 its a fair piece of loom.

ok, well ive just had it all apart. the black earth wire has been overheated and melted slightlight. was melted to the orange wire next to it. i checked the contiutity with all other wires and its fine. ive stripped back a bit more of the black earth wire found a good connection. any ideas if i can get just a new connection and pins so i can re wire the earth and not fork out £61 for just a fault earth????

hi i have attach the pics of the connection in progress. i was wondering if i could cut all the connections of the male connection side then fit a new terminal block. is this someting i would have to buy from fiat

ahhh 5 wires;) I have tried to repair these in past but its difficult to solder as the copper has 'gone hard' right up the loom & there isn't much length on the wire when you pull it out.

Connector/terminals not available seperate so its back to the seperate terminals idea....however if you need a cheap new loom I might have one lying about;)

i have unwraped the fabric cover from the loom and found good cable. will the pins pull out of the connector, if so i could pull it out and cut a fresh bit and put it back in the connector. which loom do you have. how much for?

new loom but only half price to your good self inc postage;)

ok. brilliant. ill confirm back to you next weekend if thats ok. ill let you know through private message. Im going to look into a quick alyernative if i can but will prob end up using yor loom. thanks for the help

Grange Punto Heater Stopped Blowing?

I have a 2006 Grande Punto 1.2 Active and twice now the heater has stopped blowing. The heater is still warm when you put you hand over it but the heater just isn't blowing.

I took it to the garage a few months ago who after looking at it for just a few seconds said the passenger had kicked out the heater wire underneath the footwell, he told me to look under there in future to check.

Problem is ive no idea what im looking for! Saw a picture of it on the internet as far as i can tell it looks like its still plugged in to me.

Any ideas????

This what your looking for;)

theres a small plug on the in the footwell on the passenger side underneath the glove box, however, mine went due to the fact the earth wire overheated and melted it causing the wire to go rock hard and lose its connection. new wire harness is £61 from fiat. hope this helps
