Hi guys, i have just bought a new grande punto. at first i was disappointed because the buttons on the steering wheel were not illuminated:( then i have changed them at the service with illuminated ones:slayer:

But know when i turn the steering in any direction a cord noise coming from the steering wheel as if the cords are loose and hitting somewhere in the steering wheel:confused:

Anybody can help me how to remove the center of the steering wheel to check cord tightness?? the service is not close to my home and i do not have enough time to get it back to the service because of my job.

I am happy wit my car:D and will be happier if I can stop the noise coming from the cords

Wow you women. Disconnect the battery for 20mins minimum to get all charge out of the system so the bag cant go off. Then there should 3 or 4 bolts that you need to undo to get the bag off.

If you're not careful the static charge on your hands can fire it off if you touch the contacts, so it really should be a Dealer job. Though from the sounds of it, I doubt it's the airbag itself that's at fault. ;)

There has recently been some really bad....sorry dangerous! advice on airbag systems on the forum (not in GP section I might add) and as such I think that removal/storage/replacement/repair of airbags should be left to qualified people.

End of the day your safety is the most important thing:)
