Technical Going to do an oil change

Two questions,

anyone done one?

wheres the oil filter? is it easy to get to and can i get a replacment easily? halfords, euro car parts?

*watching with a keen interest! (y)

Oil filter is mounted on the crankshaft pulley end of the engine near the driveshaft inner joint. Access from below and the filter is of the cartridge type. Before removing the filter housing cap drain the oil from the housing via the bleed valve on the underside of the housing. When refitting the filter use new o-rings. Dealer or shop4parts would be the safest bet for the filter. Haven't done one on this engine myself info comes from workshop manual.

thanks thats ace. ive got a pit so ill get under and have a look see tonight, ill post pics for others thinking of doing the same. bleed valve not a sump plug? interesting. not done one like that before, im guessing the new o rings is a do-gooder thing and not necessary?

Bleed valve is on the filter housing to empty the housing, you still have to drain the oil via sump plug. New o-rings are essential and should come with the new filter.

easy to do an oil filter change on the 1.9. as has beens aid underneath the car drivers side.

the oilt ends to drip into the o/s/f wheel and driveshafts, so take your wheel off if you dont wana have to clean it all up.

Should make it easier to reach too for those of us that are pit-less...?
