im due to turn 18 next month and going to be ordering my new punto 1.4 sporting on finance!
my question is what colour??? ive noticed that there isnt much choice with the sportin colour wise.

also have some questions about drivability!
are the gears smooth (from gear to gear)?
Are the leather seats any good as from pictures they look kinda plasticy?
how does it drive?

try to sell me a punto !!

thank much appreciated
brad

Hi Brad. Mines 1.9 Multijet orange one. Love it to bits. Do you not fancy having the diesel 1.9 as its quicker m8? Gears are spot in and its a hell of a lot better drive than my HGt that o part ex'd. Get the orange m8 its well sexy

Colour is personal choice to be honest. If you want something different go for white, if you want to stand out go for red or orange or if you'd like something less in-your-face the blue and black ones look great. It doesn't matter what colour you seem to choose the Grande always looks gorgeous and somewhat special!

I'm deliberating whether to go for a dynamic sport 16v, sporting 16v or the multijet sporting, I guess it depends what I can afford and what sort of deal I can get!

As for driving, they're great. The steering may take some getting used to, I found it to be a bit detached with not enough feel, but most modern cars have similar setups. They hold the road well, corner stabley and ride well. Very refined too! :D

Hope you're not digging a hole and jumping into it by getting finance at such a tender age! :p

Gears smooth? Depends; if its a Dualogic then maybe not..
I don't have leathers but you'll need a top spec to go with the leather..
Drives well..

i was all set for the leather, but having actually sat in it and drove in it i decided against it, put the money towards the multijet sporting rather than the 1.4... it's a bit quicker, SHOULD be cheaper to run in the long run, SHOULD hold a better resale value and the tuning potential is mega high compared to a n/a petol engine.... i went for crossover black, as i like darker colour cars for getting a good shine... there is a thread in this section with pictures of other members cars, take a look and see if it helps you out any. :) hth

i'm afraid i am, theres is either finance of a loan!
and ive been looking at loan APR values and there thenominal! (over 12%) for my age.
i've had a look at insurance quotes on the multijet 1.9 and the sporting and the 1.9 turns out at about 3 grand! and the sporting at 2 and half. The thing is youve just gotta bite the bullet at my age because if i dont start gettin my no claims now there gonna get me later.

so you would choose the diesel over petrol? i have noticed that people are swaying for diesels nowadays, people used to think diesels were crap.
but this is a win win situation for the multijet
1.its faster than the fastest petrol gp model
2.you get tons more miles to the gallon.

Also tuning potential?ive been scouring the internet and all i could find was angel tuning! who else is there?

how loud is the multijet when idling?thats the only factor im worrying about, the noise

sorry i just want to get my choice spot on otherwise i will regret it.
much appreciated lads

Test drive the petrol/ diesel with and without leather. The leather looks nice in the flesh:)

you say about having a cinququinto but i tell you now the other day a mate gave me his car for nothing.a 1994 1.1 ford fiesta lx i went to get an insurance quote looked all day and the lowest i got down to was £2.400 the car wasnt even worth £50 now justifie that,i was shocked

dont let the quoted figures fool you.

there is only one way to compare different deals, the total amount payable.

you have to work out the total amount payable for yourself, dealers and lenders will lie about rates and totals, its industry practice.

i've never seen a finance deal that was cheaper than getting a personal loan, no matter what your age or credit rating.

yeah but the thing is not many people are willing to give me a 13 grand loan comes out at about 15 grand altogether with interest included. the finace works out a tad less.if i was to go to a dealer would i be able to lower the price a little? ive never done anything like this before and would just like to know some things to remember.

so you reckon the multijet is the thing to do??
i was just reading on tunit diesel that there harness system pushes the punto to a whopping 190bhp and just over 300 torque!my god!!!

why kinda 0-60 would we be talking about then?

i think im gonna go for the multijet!

let me know guys

try and talk to washinpowder he is on here and is only 19 he has the deisel 1.9 he may be able to help with insurence quotes he loves it i have the petrol 1.4 16V which is great and is not that much slower all i would say is think of the money the 1.9 is about £2000 more and 2 insurence groups higher than the 1.4 16v

Also go for leather it is really nice u also get the arm rest and lumber surport as well and is about £600

hope this helps

Pop over to the forums on www.moneysavingexpert.com before taking on finance. Please. :)

In particular, have a look at the debt section. If nothing else, you'll gain some tips on cheaper finance. At best, you may reconsider indebting yourself at an age when you're likely to want flexibility in your finances - e.g. if you want to travel, move around etc.

Hi 18 and buying a brand new car wow!!!! I got the dealer advertised 5% APR cant go wrong with that on finance. Bought a 1.9 and it's great with the leather the only choice!!!

I bought my first car, a Ford Ka base model, brand new at 17, saved up the old fashioned way! 2 years later and 19 I'm thinking about a 1.4 Sporting, may get it on finance but the most likely thing is I'll get a 5K loan as I have some money saved and the trade-in of my old car. Add in the dealer discounts/offers from Fiat Supa Saver and Broadspeed you can't go far wrong.

so ya reckon finance would be a good one

just 5 years seems a very long time!i cant w8, just wanna feel the power.gonna get it chipped by tunit to get the 170bhp going lol

For insurance it's not just about the car its where you live, where the car is parked at night, how many miles you do etc.

I was 18 when i got my 1.9 Sporting and got insurance for £1400 so it can be done just got to try everyone :)

For the leather i think it's great, got it already on the car when i got it and i woudn't want to go back to cloth seats again. The seats aren't plasticy, they look more matt in real life.
If i had a choice over the colour for mine i would have deffinatly got Carribean Orange(y) but i comprimised becuase of the spec of the car.

Don't worry about the tractor noise its not that noticeable, you'll soon forget about it when you're flying past petrol cars with all the torque:D
