hi,

a few days ago i posted a thread that was me going on about my oil leak of 2 days.

i have recently found it was overfilled at oil change. i took it back, they drained it to correct level.

but the funny thing is that the oil leak has gone away. not a single drop!!

now i would have thought that by over filling, a gasket or seal had gone to cause leak. but then surely, the leak should continue after draining as the damage has been done???

any ideas?!/?

The pressure is now smaller, it may be that it pushed the oil out during the overfill and now have setled - you will see in time

or that there is now no oil in her at all!! lke sven said just let it calm down only time will tell

Overfilling does not cause any more pressure.

The only damage it can do is if its high enough to block the return from the head or if the crank hits the surface of the oil.

In either case the engine turns into a smoking mess pretty quickly.

Many of the oil seals are not designed to have oil sat behind them for long periods so will leak.

Perhaps the oil never came from inside your engine at all.

Perhaps when they changed the oil they missed the filler slightly and glugged half a pint down the outside of the block.

wouldnt put it past them!!

guess you guys are right, just give it time, so far so good.
