i am stuck in cirencester for three weeks with a car that is not mine. I don't know the area and am finding it difficult to read a map at 70 mph on the 'A' roads! So am looking to buy an easy to fit sat nav. around the £300 mark pref with speed camera detector built in. any info would be m,uch appreciated. where to buy? personal experiences etc etc cheers

i did the same thing this week and got a tomtom go 700. It's the same as the tomtom go 300 but with a few more maps and features. If you sign up to the maplins news letter you can get the 300 for £340.

The one maplins offer at £200 is a bargain, never used one so don't know how good it is though!

Personally I'd go for TomTom everytime, as it is probably the esiest to use and the most supported with loads of free POI stuff available on the net.

you understood it though. so you must be a geek too, lol ;) theres always option 11 though...

the one from maplin looks a bit small. anyone got one?

i like the tomtom 300. wheres the cheapest to buy?

if you sign up to the maplins news letter you can get £30 off the tomtom 300 which takes it to £340

might just do that. the cheapo from maplin is tiny! don't know how anyone could look at that screen whilst driving!

hmmm, getting tempted to get the 500 or 700 now that i have read the specs! does anyone know where i can find out whether a sony ericsson k750i will work via bluetooth with the tomtom as the website just says something along the lines of 'buy it, try it and find out!' cheers

If the k700i works (according to the TomTom site), then no reason that the 750 shouldn't :)

Yeah, get me one too while you're at it ! LOL

I already have TomTom Mobile 5 on my Nokia 6680. Much cheaper and more portable :)

Rob

thought about that but if anyone else is going on a long journey and needs to borrow it i'm left without a phone!

ebuyer have the go 700 for £500, if you sign up for the newsletter from maplins you can get it for £500 too

whats the difference between the 500 and 700 xcept u get a remote n maps of europe?

the 700 has full maps of europe where as the 500 only has the major roads. The 700 comes with a remote, which i am yet to use. The 700 has a 400mhz processor and 64mb ram instead of the 400mhz processor and 32mb ram that the 500 has. Also the 700 has all the maps stored on a 2.5gb hard drive whereas the 500 has an SD slot on the front.

Unless you are going to drive in europe then get the 300, unless you want the bluetooth, this is only available on the 500 and 700. The bluetooth allows you to make and recieve calls hands free and if you subscribe to the tomtom plus service you can download traffic updates which the tomtom will use to re-route you to avoid the hold up
