ive got a 1.2 16v its hesitating when i drive it normal not so bad when i drive it hard!Ive changed plugs and leads still got the same problem any ideas? Not serviced it yet had it 7 months due to go in fri could that be the problem?

sounds like you might have a shitty tank of fuel? if it's not been doing this long, it might be that! for it only to be doing it when driving normally this may be an explanation?

but yeah tell the garage what's been happening and see what they say/do

Re: Re: Hesitation

If you're happy with the ignition leads and plugs

Things that improved a flat spot on my 1.2 at precisely 1800rpm were:-
Make sure your air filter is good. Sounds obvious but difficult to see if it's clogged on 1.2 as there's a black sponge on top of the filter. Change it if you're not sure and reset your ECU by disconnecting the battery negative lead overnight. Drive normally afterwards to let the ECU relearn the best engine settings. ECU will take a while to learn, mine was 4 tankfuls! SLow learner!

Next go for the lambda sensor. Quite cheap and easy to replace, reset ECU again afterwards.

Let us know how you get on

Re Re Re: Hesitation

I cleaned my air filter out a few weeks ago and that was filthy was better after that was still lumpy though will try resetting ecu and sensor cheers chaps will let u know the out come.

Re: Re Re Re: Hesitation

Why not replace the airfilter? You can't clean paper ones.

Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

Ive got one of those cone air filters?can they get blocked and cause problems?let me know Tom cheers.

Re: Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

what make filter and how is it mounted?

Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

I dont know what make it is was on the car when i bought it and its in the same place as the old air box.

Re: Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

Is there a pipe feeding fresh air to it?

Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

FAO Tom, Well as you have probably gathered i know full all about cars but in answer to your question theres one pipe coming from engine onto the cone.

Re: Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

OK, if its sucking in warm air from the engine bay then that could be causing the problems.

Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

So do i need another pipe?or should i just by a new one all together?

Re: Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Re Hesitation

Well i had my car serviced yesterday and a few niggly jobs cost me £141. Two of the mechanics took it on test drive and there verdict was 'its as flat as a fart' they sed they had a 1.0 corsa in the garage with more go in it.So ive gota take it back and get it put on the diagnostics machine which will cost me another 35quid!!!Calling all people with 1.2 16v it surely has more go than a 1.0 corsa???

- 1.2 16V Bravo Owner -

Errrr, yeah. Mine has just about more go than a 1.4 SRi Corsa :)

1.0 - lol. Your Bravo should leave it standing :/

3 cylinder 12v engines sound like bloody sewing machines on steds.

Ian.

Ian, Well thats what i thought!!!!lol and i aint gonna stop until its right. My last car was a Corsa 1.4sri and that was quick but comparing that to my 1.2 16v in its current state it would **** all over it whats the most u had out of your bravo?

Well.. it kind of depends.

My mods are as follows:

Stainles Steel Air Filter
Straight through exhaust / De-cat / Only single SS backbox
ECU Angeltuning remap
Short Ratio Punto gearbox

With 15's on I could get 0-60 time of around 10.5 seconds and it would go right upto about 115mph @ 6,500rpm

With 17's it's a tad slower, around a 11.5s 0-60 time and tops out at 105mph @ 6,000rpm

Ian.
