Clicking / ticking noise

Hi Guys
When my engine has warmed up there is a ticking noise coming from the drivers side of the car and it sounds like it is in the area of the drivers side suspension. It only makes the noise when the engine is revving at certain RPM's and does it when the car is stationary and moving. Althoug it seems to be coming form the suspension area, it doesnt sound like a suspension problem to me. Any idea what the problem could be and how much it would cost to fix, cheers

Re: Re: Clicking / ticking noise

Hi,

I also have this on my car, can hear it at low RPM and idling.

Might be linked to PAS as ive just had an MOT and they said that my PAS fluid pipe was loose, oops

Let me know what it could be

Yeah, i get this on my 98 bravo s. It starts (usually) when the car is idle, if i rev, it goes off for a while , then starts up again. Annoyed the hell outta me but now i just ignore it. Would love to know what it was

It's the Fiat time bomb.

It gets louder with the cars age, until it breaks completely.

Sell it and buy Japanese.

I used to have a honda, new cam belt every 20k miles. Horrible cars.

while my mates car was in the garage i asked one of the mechanics what the ticking might be. my cars got a slight miss fire at the moment he said first step would be to change the leads as they are about 7 years old. he said this would probably reduce the ticking noise. i also asked if i was using the wrong oil 5w/40 he said that the best stuff would be 0w/30 which i was very suprised at especially at 60 000 but they do alot of work for fiat at this place so i believe him. also the single point injection system is renowned for being a little clicky. tappets could be replaced but for the price i would just put up with it

DO NOT USE 0W30, that really will finish off your engine. 10W40 is the only grade you should use.
