Hi,

I am searching a repairer for X244 timing belt replacement + the two other belts + tensioner pulley in northern NSW. It is a Ducato X244 2.8L JTD, Y2004 with A/C. Parts are provided.

I want a repairer that had done the job before (successfull of course) and knows what to do.

Area is northern NSW, preferably around Grafton. QLD is impossible due to our new inland borders. Same applies for Sydney. And that would be too far away. I would prefer a small business.

I know that there is a repairer in Coffs Harbour, but I am after an alternative.

Any recommondations from fellow motorhomers? Where had you the timing belt changed? Since the Ducatos are now on the roads in Australia for 16 years there should be more
repairers available than just the very short list from FIAT Australia. I checked their website, the the next repairer according to FIAT is over 400 km away in Newcastle.

Best regards,
Astragalus

If you are mechanically competant you may wish to consider DIY. If so see FreeSpirits guide, which is available in the guides section of this forum.

FreeSpirit fabricated a starter ring dog by welding, but as I am not a welder, I used a scrap 3/8" UNF high tensile bolt, tapped and locked into a scrap piece of plate. The bolt was filed down to match a rubbing of the starter ring gear tooth profile.

A quick search of You Tube found some information on the subject but it needs more research. It's highly likely the engine is used in many vehicles so the procedure could be covered under a different name.

I have been researching this issue for the 1.3 Multijet diesel used in the Panda and find it's used in a whole list of cars - Fiat, Peugeot, Vauxhall/Opel, even Suzuki. They are all basically the same at least in this regard.
