Hello
My gear stick can't find 4th gear its like hitting a wall
I've been soaking the linkage arm with oil and many times I have been moving the arm to free up 4th gear . 1,2,3,5 and Reverse are working , 5th is a little crunchy .
I also have renewed the gearbox oil .
I can't find 4th with the stick and I'm not sure whether I found it by just moving the linkage arm .
Is there likely to be something broken in the gearbox?

Thankyou

I had the same problem.
It turned out a diff gear had broken and debris had jammed the synchro sleeve in the box.
The box was full of bits.
All other gears were ok but turning on steering lock caused problems because the diff could not work correctly.
I had to have a recon box.

It might be wise to drive slowly in first or reverse with lots of steering lock applied.
If it branches you may have the same issue.

You may also consider draining the gearbox oil and seeing if you get debris out.

Hello Jake , since my post I have had to wait for new leaf springs to arrive and be fitted , now they are fitted I have been testing again .
Finally 4th gear is going in again , with a gentle crunch .
So continued to oil up the linkage and work the linkage and stick.
On my second test the crunch was still there , at low speed I can ease the gear in without a crunch and at high speed it consistently crunch's .
During the same test I parked and the stick jammed on 4th again , when I moved off 4th came back , then after another park it jammed for about 10mins , I continued to drive in 3rd and was repeatedly trying 4th and then it came back , this time it doesn't crunch at low speed and continues to crunch at high speed .
I realize that is probably a problem inside the box .
I should add that when I changed the oil there was just a tiny amount of metal on the magnetic box plug
