Hi, I have a 2012 Ducato based motorhome and am planning to sell it next year. My instrument cluster has the well documented faint glow of 2 yellow warning lights that can only really be seen in the dark.
We have just put up with it as it doesn't affect the van's performance, however as I hope to sell it in springtime I have been looking at replacing the cluster with one from a breakers yard to save having any issues of selling the van with a known 'fault'
My cluster has the serial number 1366025080, however any that I have seen second hand have different numbers, despite looking identical - e.g. 1358174080.
Does anyone know if this is likely to be compatible with mine and is it a case of fit it and see if it works, or could it cause other problems by fitting the 'wrong' speedo?

Thanks

Can't comment on that - though I believe later replacement units bore a newer number than the faulty ones (I had one replaced under warranty), there are also a few different units.

As an alternative, this company has been recommended by quite a few people, and it would avoid any issues of compatibility (since you would essentially be re-fitting your own, refurbished unit).

(though, obviously, I don't know how the price compares with a unit from a breaker's yard).

If you try to use one from a breakers or any secondhand unit you will need suitable equipment to rewrite the VIN encoded in the cluster to match your vehicle, or it won't work.

If you don't have that ability, getting the original unit repaired by Cartronix or similar will be cheaper than acquiring the necessary equipment and software, and as it is your original unit repaired, it will plug in and work straight away.
