Hi, the steel heater pipe that runs along rear of rocker box has gone rusty where the bracket is welded to it, right behind the engine lift hanger on LHS
My garage are unable to get a new pipe, now discontinued part, tried three suppliers
Any ideas? Scrap yard? Probaly same condition?

Thanks Brian

If it is a plain pipe and simple bracket welded to it, without any fancy bends or changes in diameter, consider using the old one as a pattern and getting one made in stainless steel. Motorsport shops/garages will be able to oblige, or a fabrication or light engineering outfit robably could knock one up, and would be my preference. Shouldn't cost an arm or leg and will outlast the vehicle.

I fibreglassed my bracket with p40 about 5 years ago still going strong.

Don't forget the good old Copper Pipes as used in the house. Can even solder other metals onto them for the mounts quite easily.

AFAIK the only joint on the pipe is a tee off at the camblet end. If this bit is sound, can you get some correctly sized heater hose and replace the plain section with that after cutting the jointed bit off? It does not have to have the wiggle in it at the clutch end, and can maybe be rourted wherever it fits as long as it id not in the way? Also, I too thought copper, but not sure what the electrolytic corrosion aspect would be like with steel, alloy iron and copper all at various parts in the system?

It would be useful to know which part number is being sought.

I no longer have a 2.8JTD to reference, but from parts drawings combined with Ocwobio's description, could it be this?

https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/fiat-ducato-water-pipe-2-5d-2-8d-birth-5766.html

(Despite the URL, the description covers the 2.8JTD as well).

Ray has already mentioned Coastal Motorhomes, but if this is the part, there are also other potential suppliers found by Mr Google.

Found this pic of an engine someone's selling on Gumtree, I beleive this is the pipe in question? I to looks like it does not have the T off at the cambelt end after all, so maybe heater hose will do?

Hi guys thanks for all the suggestions, it is no longer available from fiat or coastal motorhomers, the Amazon picture is the correct one, but no longer stock, going to replace camshaft end with rubber hose and cut out part of the steel bit
Cheers snail

Brian, you should be OK with rubber hose, if you can mate it up at each end. judiciously placed zip ties and plastic pipe clips to keep it out of harms way =no problemo.
