The driver's side front seat belt in my motorhome went for a burton a couple of weeks ago, and I have bought a replacement belt unit through a Fiat main dealer.

The front seats of the MH swivel, and so the anchor points are underneath (and part of) the seat unit, rather than fixed onto the side of the vehicle. The anchor point for the inertia unit means that it has to be fixed horizontally, and so the belt locks and won't extend when pulled. It only seems to release the strap when the inertia unit is vertical.

Can anyone advise if it is possible to adjust the belt unit to operate from a horizontal mounting position, or has the dealer worked me a powder?

The Parts guy at the dealer assured me that there was only one seat belt part listed for my van, so either there must be a way to alter the sensors in the belt unit, or the dealer is having a laugh at me expense, and there should be another version of the belt unit that I can order.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

Pete

What make is your conversion ? Are the seats standard fiat a lot of motor homes have after market seats with belt built in to seats is it same as passenger belt ?can you put some pictures onto forum ?fiat will list 1 with your chassis does sound like some aftermarket mods somewhere?

Just to confirm that the inertia unit is part of the seat? If so I guess it is an A Class motor home and that the seats are non standard. What is different between the original seat belt and the Fiat replacement?
