Replacement engine, 2006 Ducato 2.8 jtd 8140.43N vs 8140.43S ?

Hi All, brand new to this forum and looking for some help. Please go easy on me! ?
I had the horror scenario of my timing belt snapping and ruining my engine and I now need to get a replacement engine. I'm in Ireland and getting a second hand 8140.43N engine is proving near impossible.
It's for a fairly large motorhome and from what I can see there are a few 43S engines available but from what I can find out the 'S' is a lower horse power. A few questions:
1) does anyone know where I could perhaps find a 43N engine in the UK?
2) would a 43S engine be an option i.e. Would there be any blockers that would stop us using one of those engines as a replacement.

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
The timing belt actually went 1 hour from the ferry to France for a 2 week holiday with the Mrs and the kids... suppose at least it didn't happen in France!!

OK
I don't know for sure.
So hopefully someone who does will provide an answer.

My initial thoughts are you have had enough stress already , don't have more by trying something that may be an expensive mistake.
Go for a direct code matching engine replacement.

If your engine low miles Maybe Find an engine rebuilder speak to them about what would need doing to your engine and who much it would cost? They may also be able to tell you difference in engines between codes.

Yes it would be more stressful if happened in France.

Thanks Jackwhoo.
We are plannig on a direct swap, just finding the correct doner is the issue.
I believe the cylinder head is beyond repair so my understanding is that the engine needs to be replaced. (I have no knowledge in this area)

The N and the S are largely identical, as far as I know the changes for N are basically a garrett turbo, vacuum valve and wiring, associated turbo pipework / exhaust manifold e.g , high pressure pump, ecu and ecu coding.

So if you can get a regular non egr S engine you should only have to bolt on your exhaust manifold, turbo and high pressure pump. You may have to transfer a stud to the new block for the turbo bracket.

Does anyone know if Its possible to replace a 8140.43 motor with a 8140.43S? Motor only that is, cambelt broken. A used 8140.43S seems much easier to find.
