The gearbox.
Whilst these look clean, they were filthy on the underside.

Not the best photo, but you can just see the open valve.

Now just keeping my fingers crossed that all is OK when the valve is refitted. It is NOT the easiest thing to get at!!

Well the valve has been refitted and is working correctly!!
I tested the valve connected to the wiring but not fitted in the manifold, was a little noisy but the valve could be seen opening & closing. Valve fitted, checked and a mechanic friend switched off the light.
Hopefully this will be an end to the EGR troubles.

Hi and thanks for putting up the pictures (very informative). I was hoping that you could just take a look at my picture and tell me if its the same egr that you have and whether there is ment to be a pipe or sensor in the apperture/hole that I have marked with arrows. Im having problems at the moment but it could be that something is missing. Would really appreciate if you could take a look. I tried to look at a few motorhomes whilst away this week as the small hole can clearly be seen with the bonnet up, but they were all 130hp and larger engines so not the same.
My vehicle is a 2.2 multijet Fiat Ducato Ace Airstream.
Thanks in Advance :)
ps Unless someone would be kind enough to pop their bonnet and have a sneaky look for me if they have the same engine ;-)

Hi,

I know this thread is old, but I was wondering if anyone knew if all 4 bolts for the EGR are 8mm?
I started to replace mine and managed to snap a bolt in the EGR, and then another in the pipe from the EGR to inlet manifold :bang:.
For ease, I have ordered a EGR - Inlet pipe from a breakers, I just need 4 bolts.

Thanks

I do not have a specific answer to your question, but have you considered the possibility of both Metric coarse and fine bolts being used? That is M8 x 1.25 and M8 x 1.0 threads. It could cause confusion.

They turned out to be standard M8 to bolt it to the exhaust, and standard M6 to bolt it to the pipe connected to the inlet manifold.

Quick reply here mybe to use an injection cleaner. My Voyager has just passed its MOT yet again with an unusually low emmissions read out. Unusually low this test boy said. Well it mybe due to the RedX injector cleaner I put in my fuel every fillup and I say every fillup cos I buy it from Tesco at £2 a bottle. Just idea but helping me out instead of it failing past MOT'S.
