i broke my gearstick, snapped it inside the dash. ducato 2003 model. have removed some of the dash to remove the gear lever and there is a bolt i cant get to. do i need to remove all the dash to take out the lever. seems a bit excessive also do i have to remove all of the linkage all the way down to the gearbox or can the lever and cables/linkage be seperated at the dash end. one cable comes of easily left and right movement. cant see how the up and down movement cable will seperate. is it one complete part all the way down to the gearbox.
also is anyone breaking a ducato 2003 or has the bits i may need ?

Is it the bracket that snapped, I welded mine in situ much faster solution, surrounded it with leather welding apron to prevent spatter burning stuff under the dash. I bet if you roughtened it up with sandpaper that jb weld would hold it for a couple of years.

Hello I am currently going through the diagnosis of my gear malfunction , I feel that it is something to do with linkage cable adjustment and faulty gearstick mech ( worn ball joint).

I am finding all the info quite useful , particularly the guides the Freespirit is posting , Thankyou Freespirt much appreciated .

Freespirit you seem to have access to some very valuable workshop guides , I'm wondering which source you are retrieving them from and whether you mind sharing it with me .

thanks

Hi Fleaspirit
Those diagrams & info were taken from the Ducato X244 2002 DTE Manual which was the first Format Fiat used for their WSM on CD which is available in the downloads section on the forum - https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=434

The later version - the eLearn is also on the Download section of the forum -

Both of these are split compressed ISO files which when extracted out produce an image of a CD which can then be burnt to a CD & installed on your computer.
The split files unfortunately seem to encounter lots of errors & result in corrupt & unusable images (CDs) If you are unfamiliar with ISO files & burning them to CD it is difficult.

There is my tutorial "Downloading & Burning 244/250 eLearn ISO CD image" in the Ducato Guides section with a link to the X244 eLearn.zip using a different method "Winzip" that appears to be still working just follow the instructions in the guide for extracting out the zip file to a directory then burning the contents of that directory to a CD. Place said CD in drive & it should auto install & place an icon on the desktop. The CD has to be in the drive whilst using the program.

direct link to X244.zip on filefactory -https://www.filefactory.com/file/rc3khd8xb43/244Ducato_eLearn.zip just select "slow download/continue/start" etc!

I just managed to get back into my Filefactory account & here is a link to a non English (German) version of a 94-02 Ducato manual PDF (y)
https://www.filefactory.com/file/52...umper Renault Boxer Repair Manual 1994-02.pdf As a Free user there is time limit on how many files you can download in a period

There is the "ePer" along with the "Guides" on the Blue menu above which is the Fiat electronic Spare Parts manual up to 2005

Hope that helps
Cheers

Thank you Freespirit, I will burn the disc.
Since my last post I have had a fiat mechanic make a dianosis. He reckons my problem is just old cables, which is a good result. I have been shopping around and have found many sellers who say they have compatible cables for 2003 2.8jtd 244 ducato. Which is good, there is just a question of the part numbers which don't seem to line up with the numbers the mechanic has given me, where should I look to double check my numbers?
