Hi
First time on this Forum so apologies If these have been asked before.
I'm picking up a (Doblo Active) Ex Demonsrater on Tuesday it's the 1.9 Multijet. I have no experience of these Vehicles wa going to Buy a Berlingo Multispace but at the last minute saw this one advertised, had a Test Drive. was most impressed. Anyway I will be using it as a Private Hire Taxi up in Glasgow.and wondered if anyone could give me an idea the Fuel consumption on the 1.9, mainly in town work couple of Airport Runs. if im lucky..
another queston the Car I'm picking up has a 5 Speed Gear box does the Doblo come with a 6 Speed as an Optional extra ? Last question this one has a Tail Gate as opposed to Double Doors are these standard on the Active.
Sorry for such a long Post
Regards

Hi Ian, welcome to the group (Sorry Ozzie, getting above myself again).

Ozzie will make the official greeting and guide you through his 'special' initiation ceremony - just bring your own apron and be prepared to bare your chest.

I can't answer any of your questions (my Mrs runs a 1.9 jtd cargo) but there are a few guys on here who also run Doblos as taxis so I guess they will be able to help.

.

Ian,

Can't do much for your fuel consumption question, as ours is mainly used out of town, where the computer says aaverage 51mpg. However around town it shows between 11mpg, when pulling away, but up to 35mpg when pootling in traffic.
I far as I am aware there is no 6 speed option, all those I have seen have been 5 spedd, and that is plenty. In first you often have trouble not spinning the front wheels and in fifth the accelration is more than adequate at motorway speeds, for overtaking.
All the passenger vehicles have the tailgate as standard. The double doors are a £250 option. Before you ask, no, they cannot be retro-fitted, ad they are a factory fit option.

Enjoy!!!!

Hi
Thanks for the Info.
I was wondering if the 1.9 Multijet is 8 or 16 Valves ?
other than that I'm all out of questions at the moment
Thanks again

hackneyman I apologise for my lateness but Welcome to the Forum (y)

The Doblo's are fantastic vehicles for taxi work, I know plenty round here, it seems since I bought one so has everyone else!

I do just around town work it's rarely that I go on the motorway. I have the 1.9JTD (slightly older engine) and the trip computer shows 46mpg average per tank for just around town - however I believe I'm really getting between 44-46mpg.

I went on a little trip the other day and I was sat on the motorway doing 50 (everyone flying past!) and kept an eye on it and the "Actual Consumption" gauge was telling me I was getting 111.7mpg and it stayed there for about 20 minutes before I hit a hill. My average per tank gauge was around 69mpg before I went back into town. Obviously these figures are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but they aren't far off!

Unless you really unleash the power of the JTD (not that I do very often) then even with the Multijet you'd have no problem - but sometimes you just can't resist knowing that the powers there to be used :D

Another tip I've found is say once a month once the engines warm to use the rev's a bit, I've been changing gear between 2000-2500rpm for a few weeks now, the other day I took it up to 4000 and the smoke was unbelievable but then after a few seconds it cleared up and I didn't see it when I took it up again - just needed a bit of a clean :) perhaps the multijet will be better!

Hi Hackneyman

I drive a fully loaded Doblo Cargo JTD and I drive the guts out of her ( when she's warm ). I get 525 miles to a tank of diesel and the on-board computer says I'm getting 46mpg which is fairly accurate. I do a lot of motorway, country roads and a bit of urban driving. Hope this helps....you won't be robbed so don't be afraid to give her an Italian service once in a while!! (y)

Thanks again for all the Info.
Picking her up on Monday hope to have it Plated by next week.
Will see how it goes.
Regards

Back in 2001 you paid extra for the tailgate rather than the double doors.

I was wondering how effective the Lumber support is in the Doble Drivers seat ? If it's not to good can anyone recommend an alternative support.
Thanks
Ian.H

My wife uses and extra support in the passenger saet and both driver and passenger in my car (Grand Vitara) so I would think that it wasn't too bad.
Myself I have no problems in any of them, despite a very dodgy back.

If its any type of seat cover then any run of the mill motor factor should stock them. They tend to be universal fitting

Quite a few on ebay at the moment.

33.2mpg around town in traffic mate. you will also notice if you do regular runs the millage is'nt quite right . its 10% out i.e 2.2miles only shows as 2 miles. taking this into account the 33.2 should have 10% more making it 36mpg. its all to do with the 15inch wheels. fiat will not do any thing about it. but i look on the bright side it gives me 6.000 extra miles on my warranty. and if any one from fiat is reading this. ha,ha, how much will 6.000 miles on each and every doblo cost you in extra warranty claims, FIAT U SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO MY EMAIL. OR WILL YOU SACK THE BLOKE WHO IGNORED IT
