The back side window on the Doblo Estate can pivot out by an inch or so to allow ventilation. It is held closed by an "over the top" latch which snaps it closed. Unfortunately tonight it did snap - permanently! The hefty looking diecast moulding (held in place with allen bolts) had snapped clean in two, leaving the latch flapping! Only thing to break on the car in 4 1/2 years though.
So - anyone know how to remove it, and where to get a replacement at a good price? I can "unscrew" the fitting from the window which loosens it, but I cannot pass it through the hole in the glass as it seems not to come apart - do I have to drill out a rivet to take it apart?
Anyone can help?

It will be hard but try a scrap yard see if they have any, you will probably have to drill out the window part as they aren't going to make it easy to take off for obvious reasons, however it might be worth calling your dealer first and ask them if you can take it off before you go buying the parts :)

"Security? We don't need no stinkin' security!"

It's a Doblo - you can break in with a paperclip. Seriously, the fitment that goes through the hole in the window could be chopped off with a pair of garden snippers, but I don't want to break anything in case I need it later.

Bumping this up, as the window is currently relying on tank tape to hold it closed! Has no-one ever removed this clasp? I can't even get a new one from a scrappy till I know how to remove it.

Ok here goes, you'll need to remove the window first as in the following picture:

Then you need to cut the head of the fixing pin fixing the window open/close device onto the glass support using pliers:

Then keep the lower part of the support on the glass and undo the upper part:

Hope this helps! (y)

Thanks Ozzie - I though I might have to get a bit drastic with something but was not sure what to cut! I'll let you know how much it costs / how difficult it is to fit, as it may happen to others.

The fiat dealer finally got the part in stock last Saturday - it had got mislaid somewhere - and 17 gbp later I had a new bracket. No rivet supplied though, so will either have to reuse the one I plier off, or use a screw. Will fit this weekend so will keep you updated - easy job or cuss job?
