Hi i took my doblo into the garage for track rod ends which it failed its mot on and they have just rang to say the antiroll bar is bent, i would have thought that this would be impossible, are they trying to pull a fast one........is there any reason why they cannot get it to go in. Any advice much appreciated from a woman who always seems to get ripped at garages...

An anti roll bar flexes all the time as the wheels move independently of each other, so it is a flexible bar. Very difficult to bend, unless it receives a severe impact. Has the vehicle been in a severe crash?

There should be no need to touch it when replacing track rod ends, so why have they touched it? It is usually impossible to refit if the links at each end are still attached to the suspension. The bar should be fitted without any stress on it, then connected to the links.

Ask them why they touched it.
Get a photo of it, hopefully with a straight bar or similar against it to show how it is bent.
Has a staff member got a similar car that needs a new one?

Hi, more info, it failed its mot on a cracked weld on one of the front suspension wishbones too, not sure if this has anything to do with the antiroll bar though, they front tyres always wear on the edge first too despite the tracking being done...

A cracked weld is a worrying thing. If the manufacturer can't weld them properly this could be a significant safety issue. If they are the original wishbones, perhaps Fiat might like to replace it for free.
Unless the crack is due to impact damage, which is the responsibility of the driver of course. Has it been in a collision? This and the bent anti-roll bar together might suggest so.
