Hi I have just purchased a 2003 1.9 JTD Diablo Van with 68,000 miles on the clock.

Its very tidy and run perfect, driving like new with no nasty habbits.

To be on the safe side I had a local garage (non Fiat Agent) change the cam belt and tensioners.

Since then the engine makes a light knocking noise that comes and goes and sounds like a worn cam shaft knock or heavy tappet sound.

Any sensible ideas what it could be ...... is the system fitted with anti knock sensors does it have to be set up by fiat electronically to get the timing right?

Its not over heating seems slightly slower but still gives good MPG up in the 50's

hey did you get to the bottom of this the same thing happened to my brother.
Is it only on idle speeds when the noise is evident any way i,ll get mine done at the fiat garage ithink.We have spent a lot of time and money to no avail

Hi, i had the same thing on my 03 Reg the knocking is coming from the Fan belt, replace this and it will disapear.
