hi,

i'm new to the forum and need some advice in regard to the above.

i've just purchased the van and want to change the oil and filter. the service stamps show that the last filter change was in 2008. . .anyhow, after reading a few posts on the forum i'm concerned that the ecu might have to be recoded in regard to the DPR..? is this correct? can this only be done by a fiat dealership? if it is possible to change the oil myself can someone suggest a grade for me to use.. thanks.

i couldn't find a haynes manual so i have ordered a manual off ebay. i've done the basics before with my previous kangoo but had similar trouble with the injector pump and the ecu....(n)

hi and welcome troll hunter
do u mean dpf?? not dpr if so you wont have a dpf as they arnt on 04 doblos
2008 long time without a service this is the oil i use put your reg in thay tell u(y) http://www.castrol.com/castrol/castrolhomepage.do?categoryId=3205 or if you want get selina oil recomended by fiat buy quite ££ you can service it your self and get your local garage to turn your light or better still http://www.fiatecuscan.net/HowToUse.aspx this lets you check for falts service light reset ect... dont be so hasty waiting for a reply someone will reply:D

You need:
  • 5w40 for a 1.3 diesel
  • 10w40 for a 1.9 diesel
  • 5w30 or 10w40 for a petrol

This is from the owners manual (attached)

I'm sure you know this bit but for the people who don't:

Changing the oil is easy enough. The undertray can be a bit of a pain, make sure that ALL of the screws, nuts and bolts etc are removed before trying to take it off.

With a warm engine, once the sump plug is undone (carefully) the oil should just drain out, unscrew the old filter and replace finger tight.

Replace the sump plug and refil with fresh oil. Put the undertray back on and all is done!

hi.

thanks for the advice. yeah, i meant a dpf:eek: just been reading up on them fuuny enough and i am so glad that this model doesn't have them. very expensive and common fault..

i'll go ahead with the change this weekend with reference to your recommendation.

are there any common faults to look out for?

drove the van back from yorkshire. really surprised how zippy it was, especially going uphill. did 80mph on the motorway for an hour on the way back and seemed fine;a very smooth ride.

can even get a 6 X 3 plasterboard in the back, unlike the old kangoo, or the berlingo i was looking out for. needed a van quick to get back to work and made a snap decision to buy this. fingers crossed;) they don't seem to get great reviews but then again i was a great fan of the kangoo until the injector pump disintegrated...

thanks again

they don't seem to get great reviews

Most reviews refer to it as a van with windows (passenger version) and then compare it to dedicated mpv's etc. Perhaps not too fair. Also, most people online are angry about a problem of some kind, that's what motivates them to log on and start typing...
