To anyone who can help,

I seem to have a common-ish doblo problem but wonder if anyone can shed some light on how to repair:

Bought 2nd hand 2004 1.9 diesel cargo van only in early march and engine management light was on over last few weeks, also a bit down on power and trouble starting sometimes.

taken into kwikfit for diagnostics and error codes p0252 - something fuel pump related - and p1604 - which kwik fit don't know and they spoke to fiat technical who also didnt know. Long and the short of it is a repair quote of 1200 quid by kwik fit or 2000 quid from fiat direct for new fuel pump, cam belt, water pump and labour.

it's done 130,000 but had a fiat replaced new engine at 28,000 - I only paid 1700 quid for it so don't know whether to A) pay for the repair B) Sell it for whatever I can get C)run until it dies....

Any help....???

Fiat technical do know, I doubt kwik-fit did speak to them...you don't just pick up the phone and call them.

If it's torque sensor fault you could try your luck second hand or ebay then get rid of it, or simply get rid of it now. Always buy the turbo versions and not the lucas epic non turbo models.

Thanks. Well another garage has quoted 850 ish. Anyone have any idea of this 2nd fault code?

Ultimately any price I'd get for selling wouldn't cover a new van so I suppose I should fix. Shame you never know what's around the corner. Hence why people buy new cars I suppose...

well t theres plenty of problems on here with turbo models costing fortunes. so i dont see how they are so much better. my 1.9d has 160,000 taxi miles & besides a oil leek its as strong as on ox(y)

true mate but the non-diesel versions suffer from that crap lucas system:bang:
I see them regularly at around the 50-60k mark coming in for cutting out/poor starting. Cheapest recon pump I know of is £850+vat and add timing belt etc + labour and thats a real hefty bill that many can't afford. Enter salesman who offers a van for £ X amount per month etc etc

Normally the torque sensor problem gets worse, possibly giving time to search obtain a second hand pump etc. Good to see one reaching 160k without a pump though.

My opinion to OP is to get a correct and proper diagnoses, yes it might cost £70 at dealer but worth it in the long run.

The pump replacement sounds about right cost wise. Been through the pain and my Doblo now runs well again, and slightly better mpg.
Make sure you use someone reliable though.
Lucas Epic pump is the pits!;)
