Hi Everyone
We discovered last week that diesel was leaking from the fuel filter on my brothers Doblo 1.9 multijet van, water had frozen in the filter and forced a rubber bung out of the top, is there a special type of diesel filter on this model? because he was chaged £70 for a replacement filter by the garage and they were sure that that was the price correct and even double checked it.

Any advice please.

Diesel filter leaking?

My youngest has just told me my car smells of diesel as he walked past it in the driveway. Just been out & had a quick look - as it's 3 degrees below out there now.

Started the engine OK & nothing squirting frantically so that's OK but obviously the diesel is escaping.
I'm presuming one of the pipes has come loose somehow?
How do they fit on?
Your help, as always, appreciated.

Re: Diesel filter leaking?

I took my Doblo in for it's pre MOT service at the end of November knowing only that the two front tyres were worn (Totally my doing). After all the haslt of getting the acurded safty bolts off which the dealer supplied the wrong keys for the service was finally done. The engineers had to keep the vehical for another day because they had a leaking seal on the water sensor at the bottom of the filter. Might want to look there.

Re: Diesel filter leaking?

Took it round to Paul at F for Fiat today & he feels it could be a seal in the top of the filter.
There is a round 'chimney' like projection, as this is filling he feels this has to be the problem. Getting a new filter tomorrow.
The filter in use is OEM and less than a year old (changed at service in May last year).
Will see how it gets on.

Fired off an email to Souls MK (they fitted the filter at service last May). Wanted their opinion as to why two dealers offer two different filters & why theirs has this plastic plug which then leaks - still awaiting a reply.

plastic plug?

Do those pics help?
Thing is, the new filter (which was a genuine Fiat part (0077363804)) has all the line connectors but otherwise, the top is solid.
There are no signs of fuel leaking.
Still awaiting a reply to my email. I've got a major service coming up in May, I have no confidence in my local stealership & I have to say confidence is sinking here as well.
