Just ordered a set of aluminium roof rails from http://www.direct4x4.co.uk, cheaper to buy direct from them rather than via their Ebay shop,Fiat dealer quoted £3-400:eek:,£172 from d4x4 so well chuffed. Also got a set of steel roof bars coming at half price £20,plus a set of sunshades at £63 so all up £255 inc delivery to Scotland, very nice people(y)
Splashed out in Halfords last week on a Sony bluetooth/usb stereo,£140 inc fitting, friendly Halfords muppet managed to cut himself 4x :cry:so had to go in for plasters, works a treat, plenty tunes straight off the walkman phone plus calls, fab:slayer:
Towbar fitted week before by local garage, just need a set of alloys:tempt: and we're all sorted for summer holidays...

I want a set of these but I don't want to pay Fiat's price. They're hard to find used and at a decent price.

Would love to see some pics of your Dobbie with the sun blinds fitted when you get 'em... I've seen them on Ebay and in their store but saw the wording about having to remove rear trim if your dobbie has it, in order to fit them??? WTF? I emailed and they had no further pictures or details, just said "Loads of people bought 'em without complaining"... Great... Not what I asked for.

Cheers,

J

Put an 'offer' in and bought a set of three from Ebay last week - pukka items, fitted a treat! Cheaper than local main stealer.

Yeah, read that too Dakar, did a search on here, general consensus seemed to be they would fit new shape Dobbies so took the plunge. Don't think there is any extra rubber but will try to deal with it if it's a problem fit. Lee at d4x4 was very helpful (as people should be when they are trying to sell you something;)) he did say any problems with any items just notify within a week and return for a full refund, pretty busy just now but will post picks asap....
Best of luck in your quest Rich,I just fancied the roof rail 'look' and need steel bars to load up Canadian canoes, kayak uprights,ladders,timber...etc
Anyone recommend any good seat covers? Seen plenty on Fleabay...

Thanks for that Dobl007, I look forward to hearing how you get on with them - if they are the business then I'll grab a set. From the pics they look cool, but it's just the fit that worries me.

Cheers,

J

The rails are really useful, I've had mine for about a year. (original thread...https://www.fiatforum.com/doblo/111177-new-accessories-available-2.html )
Have to say that the chrome rails is now a bit tarnished but they have served their purpose. Still looking for cheap & stowable crossbars.
If I can get the right things, I'm thnking about mounting a tube inside the roof to slide the rails into.

there is loads of storage potential on the underside of the roof.

The 2 bar system in chrome I thought was a reasonable price from Fiat?

I could do them for £130 inc VAT all day long?

£130 for the 2 bars in the picture?
I'll get back to you when I've got some money, skint at the moment.

I've got the Fiat square bars and they do the job ok, they just don't look very pretty, they look like Halfrauds universal bars.
Those aluminium bars have a "factory fitted" look.

Cheers Sludge, saw your old thread whilst searching on the subject, only went for these cos they look a different design, especially that rear attachment point, for those interested have a look at d4x4 "Product Gallery" for these.
Here's hoping anyway cos I don't want any roof "dimples" and waterproofing is crucial up here in Sunny Scotland:cool:(meant to be aluminium rather than chrome too)
Intrigued by your idea of slinging stuff up in the roof...I'm on the lookout for some netting to create stowage lower down behind rear wheel arches
Will let youse all know if rails acceptable to spec, pics etc,if not it's back to the drawing board:bang:

Hi

The roof bars on Doblos in Turkey are located front to back and they look really stylish.:D However, they are not really very useful for carrying things unless you lash some wood accross the bars!!(n)

Exactly the kind of thing I do, but then again, I'm a pikey & not prepared to lay out loads of cash for a couple of metal bars that I'll only use once a flood.
The reason for no9t having the crossbars on all the time is that they are supposed to increase fuel consumption by creating drag - although the extra drag createed by these crossbars will be a drop in the ocean compared to the drag coefficient of the Dobbin. You have to admit, it's one of the most streamlined cars you're ever likely to see!

Hi Sludge - My man!!

I also don't like to fork out for something I will only use a couple of times!! I haven't seen these cross bars in Turkey - but maybe I will look out for them now.

Don't know about the drag, but it will probably make more noise!!

Thanks

Steve

I would be very interested to know what you think of the roof rails as I have looked at those as well.

For info I bought the sun shades for my 08 Doblo and they have been great, although have been unable to fit the shades to the rear sliding windows as the new type Doblo has some padded trim on the door which the shade does not fit around.

:(Ho hum...still no bars, will be ringing D4x4 2mrw,they were s'posed to email me a DHL tracking no. as well...
As for the pikeys on here £20 aint bad for a set of bars surely? Especially considering what we are forced to shell out for the rails which ought to be factory fitted in the first place on a vehicle of this type, not that I'm about to expect Fiat to listen to us eh? Did look at all the aluminium bar options but steels better for my purpose and I don't mind clipping them on/off as required.
Will investigate the slider shades as soon as I get a chance Notts, certainly the weather for em just now anyway:cool:

Sorry guys, life's a bit too hectic to get round to roof rails and forums just now, they did arrive, all very well packaged, very impressed with the quality of the rails and good fittings, did a quick eye up on the roof holes and they look ok,just need some more hours in the day to get round to it. The steel cross bars are not as pretty as the ally ones but functional for my purpose.
Obviously I can't fully recommend the rails til I fit them but they look the mutts nuts, will come back to you asap...
