What is the price of a new Lucas Fuel pump? Is there an exchange programme or is there a supplier of reconditioned pumps?

Hi topcat
We had a fiat ulysse which needed a new high pressure fuel pump, we managed to exchange the old one for a recon one at Northampton diesel and electricail services, we paid £370.00 for it or they should be able to repair yours, TEL 01604 755321 OR WWW.fastlinegroup.co.uk.
Thanks for the information.
I've also had a call to say that there is a diesel specialist in Cowdenbeath called Patersons and they have equipment that the Fiat dealers don't even have!

Still looking myself. Many suppliers, but most want the part no on the pump which means removing the pump to see it, mines still going at mo but in serious way. Been quoted anything from £300 to £800 but none will commit til I get the part no from the pump Fiat quoted £800 for a recon and £1200 for new

Out of interest I see several of us with the same or similar problems all relating to lucas fuel pumps how old are your doblos mines on a 52 plate non turbo 1.9

Americans knew Lucas as the Prince of Darkness. Does this mean their pumps are no better than their lights?
How long should a pump last anyway?

Read what the pros have to say about different fuel pumps including lucus.
and how rigourous and sensitive they are to non mineral diesel fuels.

They also do exchange units, pump upgrades, injector upgrades basically anything to do with diesels.

check them out (y)

I suppose 80 quid per 10k miles might make it sound more reasonable. Hope mine dont go yet though.

funnily enough mine has only done 56k not good. sems it was a logged fault back in jan bought in june, a lemon i suppose. TOLD CAM BELT WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE AS WELL AS IT DRIVES IT.

Does anyone have any contact details for Paterson's of Cowdenbeath?
Have looked on net but no joy

Google it. Pattersons Diesel Cowdenbeath. KY4 8HW Tel 01383 513057.
Don't forget your wallet. Super repair, can't really complain.

Cheers for the address, will look into them if my current hopefuls luck out. Does anyone know what a pin out test on a diesel pump is (and, more importantly, how much it is likely to cost?)

Doesn't matter - turns out the fault is the throttle control on the pump. £900 (plus vat) for a new one:eek: (n) but Pattersons will hopefully be able to repair for less...
