Hi everyone,

We've just ordered a new Doblo 1.9 120 Dynamic as a wheelchair accessible vehicle. The wheelchair takes up the space where the larger half of the rear seats usually is, leaving the single rear seat and the wheelchair space in the back and the driver and passenger in the front row.

Just wondering if it is possible to change the front single passenger seat for a twin one for the occasions it's useful to have the extra seat?
Is there anywhere that converts them, or are there even any twin seats that would fit?

It's not essential but it would be useful from time to time, and it's one thing I forgot to look at on the test drive, which was if there is even enough space in the front to make it a possiblity.

If not, are there any alternatives, or anywhere that supplies a single removable seat that would fit the doblo behind the 1st passenger row where the Family version's back row is, as the rear seats in the Family version are unsuitable as there is no space to get the wheelchair past them as they are not seperate seats.

had a single coach seat fitted in my 06 cargo by these as well as them putting in blackout windows in the first rear ward panels.

The seat is fitted with quick release bolts so the floor is flat ( no bolts pertruding) when seat out. In reality quick release is a good 5 minutes!! but better than nothing, the seat is stronger than what fiat use with full diagonal inertia seat belts.

Did a good job had no troubles in over 18 months:)

Hi and welcome to the forum (y)

I can see what you mean.
I don't think there would be enough room to fit a double seat at the front because of the centre console protruding where the gear lever is and because of the position of the handbrake. They would have to be very narrow seats. The Multipla has 3 seats at the front but it's a very wide car, you could have a look at one to see if the middle seat might be usable.

As for the 3rd row of seats on the family, I'm afraid it's a bench seat at the back, not seperate seats like in other mpv's. Even if you had the mounting points on the floor you wouldn't be able to use the standard seat as it's one-piece, full width, if you see what I mean.

I reckon it'll have to be some sort of DIY job, unless you take it to a specialist who does these type of conversions.
Would be pricey though.

thanks for the replies. After looking around again i too agree the twin seats wouldnt really be possible, or if it was the seats would have to be tiny.
It looks like the best option would probably be a removable single seat in the rear. One that folds up to the side of the van would be ideal, but as the only place i've found that does one suitable quoted over £1000 including fitting i think it'll be alot cheaper to use a removable seat for the once or twice a month it will be used.

Is there a large choice of these single seats about that can be fitted in the doblo, or is the choice quite limited? I have to say after looking around the net for a couple of days, there dont seem many designed to fit the doblo.

Dan-p,

Did you not think to have a look at the fiat scudo combi this has the double passenger seat in the front and far more room for wheelchair access. Not to mention a further 3 seats in the rear:)

yes we have had a look around a few vehicles, and the decision on the doblo came mainly on price, hopefully the doblo will last us a good few years by which time we will have a decent deposit for a slightly larger vehicle.
The extra seat is not essential, but it would be used occasionally if we could get a removable one for the back, but not enough to justify an extra £3-4000 to move up to a converted scudo etc.:)
