'engine failure' warning!

My amber engine warning light came on and a message saying 'engine failure'.
Phoned the dealer and he's going to have a look in the morning, hopefully for free as it's only a year old.
It felt normal and there was no loss of power so I'm hoping it's nothing.
Tried starting it again after a couple of hours and the warning light's gone off and it said 'check ok' so my dealer might think I'm wasting his time, I hope not as I've had 'abs failure' messages pop up as well in the past so I want him to have a good look at it.
I'll LYKHIGO.
Anyone else had this problem?

Re: 'engine failure' warning!

Errors will be stored so ask for printout.

If it has cleared it is becaus it has carried out 3 succesive EOBD drive cycles without the fault re-occuring but get it checked anyway
Thanks RichDoblo120 thanked for this post

Re: 'engine failure' warning!

Trouble is guys it doesnt always log errors my dob is just over twelve months old. Its been in garage 9 times ,in all that time it never logged a single error. This is when im even parked outside dealer and its faulted. A nd they have rushed outside with laptop! plugged it in nothing!!! The latest thing i have had done to try and stop abs failure popping up is new ecu! and guess what next day yep! abs failure and like i said my car is a little over one year old.W ith 3300 miles on clock. In my experiance these laptops are rubbish! and had it not been for warranty would have cost a fortune. After loads of disscussions with dealership and what ive heard from other people with new facelifted dobbie. I THINK IT IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE behind dashboard as also agreed by dealership. so what i have learned in owning a fiat is dont trust the laptops and learn to live with problem or sell it cause as yet there aint a cure. That what you get for your nearly 13 grand very dissapointing!!!!

Re: 'engine failure' warning!

They said there was a fault registered and it was with the 'Diesel temperature sensor' so I asked for a copy of the printout but they said they hadn't done one. (didn't think to ask before he started) He went back to the car and got a printout but he had already reset the fault so it didn't come out on the printout.
He said the fault didn't re-occour after he'd reset it so there didn't seem to be a problem now.
I think you're right about the software cphawk.

He gave me the printout. At the top it says "control unit tests". It gives engine speed, Air mass, Diesel pressure etc but after that it just says "errors not present".
Is this not the full printout?

Re: 'engine failure' warning!

It would of been recorded before he reset the fault/error.

Re: 'engine failure' warning!

hiya! picked up my 56 dobbie in november, very impressed, good fuel consumption (1.9 120), good ride, even better missus hates it , had an abs warning problem, took it to my main dealer, all they did was disconnect and power down the computer fingy, left it for about an hour, powered it up and i haven't had a problem since , might do the same for engine failure

Hi, glad you like your Doblo.
My problem had reset its self before I got to the dealer so they just ran a check.
Sounds like a common problem on the facelifted Doblos. As long as there isn't actually a real fault I'm not too bothered as the car is fine otherwise.
