PLease could you tell me what the difference is between a 2004 sx model and a 2004 active model 1.2 8v. I have seen both models on ebay and autotrader and looking at the sx model today. Please advice me on the difference. Thanks

I am not sure of the differences between the SX & the active but my advice is keep well away from the 1.2. It is a small engine carrying a lot of weight. No good for acceleration, climbing hills or virtually anything. Stick to the 1.9 JTD or the 1.3 Multijet.

there is only me in the car and wont be putting anything heavy in the car except a bit of fishing tackle so for cheaper tax and insurance i have been looking at the 1.2. I only do 3000 miles a year if that so dont really want a big engine, just need a big car to fit the tackle in, thanks

The S and SX models are pre 2004 models, the Active and Dynamic models are the 2004 on models with a nicer dash and interior. It is also the later range of engines, the S and SX came with the N/A Diesel and the Active and Dynamic came with the JTD's! If I remember correctly the petrol engines never changed.

Depends how you like your car but you may be a little disappointed in the test drive of the 1.2... Don't expect a lot from it! The 1.9JTD models are more readily available and economy is fantastic, you'll get more from it than the 1.2. Insurance is also really cheap.

Let us know how you get on though!

The shop told me its a 2004 march registered 04 reg sx model in blue. its a ex mobility car,so is it an old model registered later do you think.

i am used to a fiat seicento that i have had for the past 6 years so not used to powerful engines. it wont be much difference to that i guess but just a lot longer, bigger car, but after all i drive 39 feet buses for a living so that wont bother me, hahahahahaha. thanks ozzy

i will take it for a test drive and see what i think, but you lot are putting me off slowly, i might tell them to stuff it and look for the bigger engine, and a later model, with more spec on it. thanks for your good advice again, appreciated, julie

If you are only doing 3,000 miles a year & you are happy with it then stick with it. The only trouble is, is that if you had 4 or 5 people in the car & you were driving up & down some of those hills that surround Bolton you might be holding up some of Fred Dibnah's friends in their steam engines.

Second hand one vary in price whether from a private sale or from a dealer. For a 04 model that i have been looking at you can get a private sale for about £3900 and a dealer well they vary anything from £4000 to £6000 depending on mileage. All the private sales have hugh mileage on or have been used as taxis and the dealer mileage vary fron 9000 miles to about 35000 miles.

no i wont be going up some of these hills around bolton, i would only use it to and from work, going shopping in, bit of fishing in and on holiday twice a year to skegness and carlilse in which is flat motorway and i dont rush on them. Fred Dibnah only lived around the corner from me and yes he was apain when he was out on his steam engine, always missed a trip when you got behind him on the bus. god bless him, thanks doblo

Hi just to let you know i went to test drive the doblo this afternoon and loved it. plenty of room for what i need it for and seemed nippy enough on the motorway, ok not got a great top speed but who needs that. Its in dark metallic blue and the garage is valeting me, taking out a very small bump on the rear and its full service history and done only 34000 miles on a 04 plate so yeh very happy with it. Pick it up thursday. Thanks guys for your help, julie
