So I'm trying to remove my front bumper so I can get rid of the orange strips (orange on a silver car, what were they thinking?!?). I have one of those CD-ROM workshop manuals that you can get off ebay for a few quid. Looked through it to find this:

However when looking on my car I cant see these fixings? Can anyone please help me with this, I really want to get those ugly orange things off! Sorry for sounding like such a noob :D

Oh, and will they have those star-shaped screwdrivers in halfords? I dont have one yet..

Maybe they are covered in muck ;) They should be there.
Star Screwdrivers are called Torx bits, and yes they will be in halfords but you could get them cheaper at a motor factors or DIY shop I should imagine.

Found em on maplin for a few quid :)

On to the wheel arch - There arent any screws on the side like that unless I'm missing something? Thats where the bumper is on mine :S

No. You have to remove the liner (on Sei's -- on Cinqs you can just about get away without it). The liner is held on by those ordinary hex headed screws, all on the flat surface of the liner.

Then you can get at the Torx fasteners which hold the bumper on.

A flexi drive helps,but isn't strictly necessary.

hmm ok, so if I just feel around for a bit I'll find some screws which hold the lining on? I couldnt find any earlier but I guess like skinz says they may just be covered in a load of crap :D

Cheers for the help guys, I'll take another look tomorrow. If I still cant find it I guess I'll just get some primer, paint and lacquer and re-spray the orange inserts the same colour as the rest of the car.

as rallycinq said they're black 8mm hex head posidrive bolts, they're a pig to find if you don't know where to look

Guess I need to break out the torch :D Hex as in allen key, right?

Had a look under today, saw the hex-headed bolts (IE ones like this - http://www.msc-stainless-fasteners.com/materialsearch/images/hex-head-bolt.jpg )

So I just undo those and it'l come off to reveal the torx bolts to get the bumper off?

There are 3 bolts, its also clipped behind the wheel arch, takes some wiggling. Also on drivers side its bolted to a plastic splash guard under the radiator.

Take a good look as to how they are fixed in place, they are awkward to re-fit until you get the hang of it.

just to add one more thing
get yourself a haynes manual
youll find it much better as there are actual pictures... rather than just poorly labeled diagrams like that :)

Haynes dont do a Seicento manual from what I can see.

I managed to get my bumper of without removing arch liner. Was a real pita and you will rip your hands to shreads.

If you can, just try and get enough access to the front area of the bumper. It saves you taking the whole liner of cause they a pain to get back on properly. They are quite flexible so can be pulled back

Not sure what you mean? Just unscrew the front bits of the bumper and pull it back to get at the screws for the orange strip?

No.

Gaz is suggesting that if you can dislodge the wheelarch liner from the wing and front bumper you can get at the torx screws which hold the bumper on.

While I've done this on a Cinq (but Cinq front bumpers are bolted on), I'm not sure it can be done on a Sei.

This is what I'd do:

Jack up the car and put it on axle stands. Take the wheels off. Take a scrubbing brush and warm water to the arch liners. Now you should be able to see the screws. Remove the screws (I use a socket in a battery powered drill). Either remove the arch liner or juist pop it out at the front. The bumper is held on by a number (can't remember how many!) of torx screws. Find them (a torch will help). At least two (each side) are just inside of the place where the bumper met the arch liner. Just undo them (again, a battery powered drill makes life easier). When you think you have them all out (don't forget the ones at the top, under the bonnet!) give it a good yank. You'll either fall on your back or discover where the ones you've missed are.

Once the bumper is off, you'll find that the orange trim thingy is held on by self tapping screws, some of which are likely to have gone rusty: don't be afraid to drill them out.
