Right, these are the problems I have identified so far for MOT time;
  1. Offside Rear Bearing slightly loose
  2. Very very slight play in offside track rod end
  3. Rear Brake cylinders not working as freely as they should
  4. Rear most brake lines showing some signs of corrosion
  5. Rubber covers on suspension split (behind the coils)
  6. No sidelights :eek:
  7. Steering wheel off center but car not pulling to any side

So are all of these potential MOT fails, I know the wheel bearing is, also sidelights and brake lines, but any of the others?

The lines are showing signs of corrosion right where they go into the back of the drum. I think they are dust covers, they would be if they were Bike suspension.

Cheers

On the brake lines the general rule is that they can't have significant pitting, clean them up and grease them, that way the examiner can wipe the grease off if he feels so inclined. It's good practice anyway to grease steel brake lines.

Okies, just we know a guy who does MOT failure work as part of a deal with a garage, and he said they fail brake lines a lot because of the time it takes to change them equalling big labour charges.

assuming nothing goes wrong, half an hour.

i had trouble getting the bearing off the stub axle though, it split as it came off and i ended up angle grinding it off.
