Well after booking my car in for a service for Tuesday (with Fiat) I thought I would fill my car up to see if they'd notice the smell of fuel when the tank is full (ongoing problem just never really looked at it).
Now I fill it up to the top till it cuts out and squeeze 20p more into it to round it off to £23 (of Optimax too) and notice the floor is wet. I look under my car and its dripping fuel from a quarter of the way in from the driver side of the car. I did'nt want to hang about as it's dangerous so paid, mentioned it to the attendant (didn't seem bothered) and rushed home.
It just dripped a small bit over the driveway and when I stopped I can't see any dripping but it stinks and so do my shoes now too[!]
The bottom of the tank is pretty dry but there is a thin black pipe that is clipped around the top of the tank which is wet and the surrounding of the tank is wet (loads of blue pipes there too, one has a rubber tape type thing spiralled aroundf it). Theres some kind of rubber sleeve on this black pipe that looked pretty wet too (looked like water pipe insulation!).
Any ideas?
If I've over-filled the tank does the fuel just drop out on the floor rather than climb back up the filler and drench you???
Fiat are gonna well and truly walk over me come Tuesday, I just know it![V]
P.S. 2001 Sei Sporting warranted to 29/11/04 with only 5160 on the clock dammit!!!! Should've kept the Mini rust-bucket.
