Hey guys,

i'm all for LED's everywhere and my newest venture is the wing mirrors. Theres planty of space it looks like for some leds to shine around the inside.

Bought a whole mirror from scrappy today in wickford, rather good, called DA Motors if anyone needs a FIAT only scrappy.

Anyway i dont wana prise out the glass in the wrong place n end up with a broken one, need to kno how to take it out properly and get it back in after puttin LED's in.

Any help please guys,

AxelEph

BTW its asporting 97 model...pics on PhatAshki's profile :)

I believe the glass is stuck in and is non removeable..

But if it is stuck in, it might be possible to melt the adhesive - but Id think that'd probably destroy the mirror tbh!

The mirrors are essentially 1 piece.

AH NUTS :(

what a waste of a journey and dosh for a mirror....anyone want to buy a yellow driers side mirror??
(y)

i swear i saw some glass only for sale on some website??

thanks anyway guys

back to the drawing board for more ideas

what you mean WHY?? Y do any mod that just looks good?

Thiking outside the box on this one. My interior leds make me smile...i wana smile when i look into the mirror of the stupid woman behind me and smile :)

looks like i can buy a new glass from halfrauds...only way to get original out is to break it... seems a bit crazy now but hey.

Yeh DA Motors is top :) think i'l be having quite a few visits down there in the coming years/months

Mase said it because he believes that will be distracting, thereby increasing the chances of you having an accident. I can see where he's coming from on this.

Hey AxelEph,

I bought a bag of 100 orange leds on eBay and was going to drill two rows of holes in the front of my mirrors to get that new Merc indicator look going on but haven't had a chance to look at whats needed. Luckily one of my mirrors has the glass busted out already but I was going to stick the other one in the oven at 80 deg and see if that softened the adhesive enough to get the glass out. It works for getting the glass out of the headlamps so I thought why not... Since your mirror is spare, I vote that you give it a try and let us know how you get on.

As for distracting yourself with leds, I fitted rainbow colour changing leds in all of my interior bulbs and its like driving a christmas tree. You'll know when you try it and can decide whether to drive with them on or not.

Not really when you think about it, why would you wanna take the glass out unless to change for a new one - unless to put LED's in it obviously ;)

aha well i listened to the vote and took apart the mirror. i idnt realise th glass was on a bit of plastic, so i ened up breaking the glass :(

anyway theres 2 screws holding the plastc to the other..plastic

i finnally got round to glueing 4 blue leds to each side behind the glass, looks pukka in the dark, am guna stick it on ym car soon as, and post pics when done.

cinqsandminis : yeh orange leds would look cool, easily drill some holes and glue them there, just make sure the cabling is proper waterproof ;) might een do it myself to match my custom freestyle rear led clusters im doing...work in progress on that one

will show it all off at brooklands - cant wait

over and out
