I'm on my phone so it's hard to tell.. do you have the gasket in place on top of the block there? If you don't.. you've got a lot of trouble around no1. Scoring into no2 and into the water channel.

Thats a geasy mark where ive been feeling the surface with my oily hands, looks like a score between 1 and 2 but it was a bit of crud, thought that yesterday looking at the pics and rushed home to check it lol

phew

I was going to say, it looks odd that there's a possible breach of the water channel into no1, but the inside of the cylinder isn't steam cleaned!

I must admit after looking at that pic yesterday i did do a little prayer before opening the bonnet to look... "please god don't be f*#king score marks" :worship: pmsl

You could check the difference between top and bottom of the bores for wear while you have access, old ring or hire a gauge.

I replaced a head after valve grinding to find I still had uneven compression, cause the ring gaps were twice the service limit, but it could have as easily been the bores.
