Hi..

Is it possible to fit opening rear windows on my Seicento Sporting from -98.

it is possible but you need to get the windows, window seals and you need to find a way to secure the bracket behind the upright behind the rear passenger seat that the window bolts to (3 bolt holes). Also i know there are bolt holes behind the driver seat (2 bolt holes) but I'm not sure if the nuts are there to bolt it too . I hope this makes sence (it does to me lol) and is helpfull.

I've never seen a Cinq'/Sei without opening rear windows... but almost certainly the sheet-metal will be the same, so you should have everything in place to just transfer all the kit you need from a knacked donor.

If you have a look at the holes for the hinges and also the "pad" where the opener bolts on a car with opening windows, you'll be able to compare them with yours. I imagine you have blanking grommets over the holes.

Then you just need to buy all the parts you need from a donor vehicle and pop them on.

You'll need the glass (hinges and opener attached) and the rubber seal. Roberto is your mother's brother (or Bob's your uncle). :D

Great, thanks guys

I do have bolt holes and threads under a plastic-cover.

So I guess its not a big problem.

Here in Denmark we do not have a lot of Sei's with opening rear windows.
That's why I thought it would be good fun to make them :)

i fitted these to my sei recently pull the covers off and fit the 10 rivet nuts then pop the seals on and the windows and closing brackets just screw into place, hey presto opening rear windows :)

hiya,i know this is an old post but does anyone know what size rivnuts you need to buy to do this mod i have have a 98 sei abarth which i suspect doesnt have the threads .

am assuming these are the parts and tool required but if anyone could confirm this would be great.thanks .stu

I did this to ours and used the hexagonal rivet nuts. it came as a set with various sizes and the tool to insert them. I would've thought that you can use the round inserts providing you drill out the holes in your car.

from what i can tell i will need either m4 m6 or m8 rivnuts x10 to then rivet intothe series one but cant find any info on what size of rivnut to buy am thinking it will be m4 but any oneknow for sure .thanks

The SPI ones didn't have opening windows. The late MPI cars (at least) did.

The bean counters at FIAT pulled the same stunt with the Cinq -- you'd think they'd learn, but..........

lol thats fiat for you mind you it saves weight .. any idea what size rivnuts m4 m6 ? cheers stu

finally after a few years ..the rivnuts that fit perfectly are " M6" if you get windows 2nd hand make sure they come with the allen head bolts and the plastic washer that fit under the hinges when mounting to the car and also you will need the correct window seal ...there easy to fit often if your repacing the old non opening windows when you get them out " use a plastic edge tool too prise them out there seal and put tape over them to hold them to the outside of the car while you work them out the seal ..once there out take the old seal off and clean up the area and hopefully there will ne no rust......ideally when refitting new seals run a thin bead of silicone grease inside the new seals ...fit the windows once you have fitted the rivnuts line everthing up once happy they close etc tighten everything up .
