Hi All,

Completed a short trip this afternoon, and after getting off the motorway noticed that my 899cc was smoking from the bonnet.

Also, noticed a few drops of water - maybe 4 or 5 whilst driving on the motorway that dropped on my foot!

I pulled over, and after inspection it seems there is a leak coming from around the water tank area.

I have checked the hoses, and found that the inlet/outlet has snapped off the heater matrix. Its the plastic that has snapped, so cannot be fixed. (I assume?)

Is it possible to bypass the matrix by plugging the inlet and outlet pipes together?

Also, how difficult is it to replace the matrix? Does it just slide out?

Thank you for all your help :worship:

There are (I think) four small Philips screws holding it in.
Those screws are all on the end with the pipes.
I think it may slide out with the heater unit in place (I replaced the heater fan around the same time and can't remember if I did both together).
Try it with the heater in place as it is a bit of a faf getting the whole thing out. If you can't get the matrix out with it in place, you haven't lost any time.

Im pretty sure you can change in situ, its a tight fit in its hole.

I have one if you need one. (y)
