Hi all!

Had a new clutch fitted recently, but it already seems to be going out of adjustment - by which I mean the pedal is starting to noticeably 'dip' down below the level of the brake pedal. Shouldn't the 2 pedals be level? This is also starting to affect the clutch biting point - i.e. it's getting nearer and nearer to the floor. There will probably come a time when gears become very hard to engage - esp. reverse? (I've had this happen before, with the old clutch.) How easy is it to adjust the clutch pedal back up to where it should be?

Very easy. See in the engine bay there's a nut on the very end of the clutch cable. Screw this in to adjust. Normally you'll need an adjustment soon after a ne clutch, then the need to adjust will be less regular. To increase the life of the clutch, pop the box in neutral when at a standstill.

So simply screwing that nut in will bring the clutch pedal back up to the same level as the brake pedal? That's assuming I can find the nut...

I am having a small bit of clutch slip and ive adjusted the cable out rather than in was that the right or wrong way? Sorry for hijacking your thread

No i had clutch slip before and still have some clutch probly has had it but thought if you adjusted the ccable i would get longer out of it

I can see the nut - looks a bit awkward to get at, though. Will probably have a go at it, though. One question - why does the clutch pedal get lower and lower? Should that nut be tightened up secrely? Garage who fitted the clutch say it doesn't need to be, but I'm pretty sure that's c**p. The AA once tightened it up on the old one properly, and it barely shifted in level till this new one was fitted - so I guess I've answered my own question...
