General Legality of rear seat removal

ok was working on th gt lump today and when tidying up i reminded myself i have a spare (good) front arb off the silver cinq and was wondering could i use this as a rear arb with custom mounts or is that out of the question

i may be looking at the wrong post but did aaron and emma not use an mgf front arb, i am wondering if i could use the standard cinq sporting arb with out having to cut it and weld

guys. if you put a front cinq (or front any car) arb on the back of the cinq it will be far to stiff.
ive aquired plenty of arbs from lots of random cars and some of them look to be an easy fit on a cento. but they are all far to stiff.

what you can do (what im going to try)

cut the middle out of the cento arb then replace it with a tube. (this with increase the stiffness of the front arb)

bodge a front arb onto the back of the cento. make sure the drop links are positioned for maximum leverage (try make the position adjustable) as to limit the effort from the bar.

if its still to heavy then take grinder to the arb to make it thinner.

but still dont expect this to turn your car into a mini. it would take a lot of track time. and just because a car feels like it rolls a lot, dont mean it handles crap. the suspension is still keeping all the wheels down. with a arb the body will still want to roll but the arb will try lift the inside wheels, this will leave you with actually a lot less traction

good input, have a thank you :)

I know not alot about how it all works tbh, just the basics. Yes my car rolls a little more than i would like but if defo proper sticks to the floor, i'm not saying its a problem really just that it could be improved by someone who knows what they are doing more than me... Would a full cage not also elimiate some roll?

So if i were to use a thinner bar to make the rear ARB, then it should fine ? (i.e. not too stiff)

Thanks

cage reduces chassis flex (as does seam welding and braces)
cages have a lot of weight up to so should cause more body roll but my guess would be a Negligible as the handling will be improved somewhat by the stiffer chassis.

imo if your using the car just for track. then proper adjustable suspension. with the car really low would help control body roll more then a arb by just lowering the centre of gravity.

my car rolled less just by replacing the bar stool seats that fiat fitted for a pair of buckets. :)

yes...but... im not sure what metal you need. if you just had someone bend you one out of mild steel you might have problems. if the metal could be twisted enough to cause plastic deformation then you could end up with a very dangerous situation, bar twists but dont spring back (like when you stretch a spring from a pen to much it it just ends up a a bit of springy wire) if this happens on a tight bend. when you straighten back up the wheels will be held in unnatural position by the arb.

so its best to start with something that was designed to be a arb

thats what i ment(y)

standard seats are really high which dont help body roll at all

perhaps thats why my old cinq felt much better than the sei turbo does they have very similar suspension setup, infact the sei's is probablt better. Want to keep the sei looking stealth and not sure buckets goes with that image but i do still have them in the other cinq. Mmmmm decisions decisions.
