Hi,

I'm new here but I could really use somebodies help. I've got a '97 cinquecento and its leaking petrol from the pipe between the petrol cap and the tank. I tried the shop near me and was told it was easier to go through fiat.

Now the fun part, I went to fiat and they say I have to buy the full filler neck and cant just get the pipe and they want £80 for it. Considering i've just had to get a new alternator and radiator I don't really fancy paying that just cos a tube of plastic has crapped out.

Can I just get the pipe from somewhere and stick that in or am I forced to buy the whole thing.

Really appreciate any help with this.

Am sure you could get the whole piece for around £10 from a scrapped car in classifieds or ebay as i cant see a high demand for parts like that mate.

Are you sure thats the fault?

It is unusual, and as mentioned, you'll get it for washers in the recyclers.

It'll be easier to change the whole lot. I didn't have a clue how to get the tube off the filler neck.
You may need to drill some of the screws out, so keep any spares you get from the scrappies. The screws seize and there sort so can get rounded off easily, but because there soft, the drill makes light work of them

if its anything like the cinq then you can just have the pipe you need the lot. there are four screws behind the filler flap that hold it to the car
