My Cinq Sporting has thrown its cam belt, can anyone tell me if there will be any issues with valves hitting pistons or will I be ok to fit a new belt and reset the timing?

The tensioner has seized and thrown the belt off. The water pump was only changed about 2k ago so am happy its ok. Can anyone point me in the direction of instruction on how to static time the engine, SPI 8V.

Cheers fo the replies, may be that I'm being stupid but I cannot find info on aligning the motor to TDC before refitting the belt.
I may be wrong but by my rekoning I can't just allign the timing marks and refit the belt as I also need to make sure the head and block are set to TDC on no1 cylinder so that the timing will be correct???

There's a TDC mark on the flywheel (under the rubber bung). Alternatives are to remove the cam cover -- TDC on no.1 (closest to the belt) will be when both valves are closed and the cam lobes (the pointy bits) are both pointing upwards -- alternatively, if you stick your finger up the plug hole on no.1 you'll feel pressure (= compression) as the piston on no.1 rises and valvres are closed.
