Hi Peps,
hope all is well!
Been thinking about exhausts for some time now, when Modding my car the main aim is purposfull mods not just loud, flashee' things. My intial thoughts are just the Mani as thats what I think will improve power the most, Am I right in thinking this way. I've had a good look on the forum but am struggling to find an answer to my thoughts. Will a Asheley(Ebay) mani with standard exhaust(Cinq, N reg, Sporting,) do the job, or is there something further down the line restricting things e.g back box.

At the moment running 1.1, mckrich chip and P75(866) cam, with the intention of fitting 1242:) 8v SPI with my chip and cam then the Ashely mani and larger TB(after reading on FF and for all those helpful comments!) probably go for 37.5mm. Thought id just quickly mention as this is all new to me and want people to fully understand intentions..

Hope I've added this in the correct place, as with Moding cinqs Forums are very new to me. With not having much Grey matter please be kind if I've done something wrong.

As always a big big thanks to all you guys, You really are some knowledgeable people with some great advice, :worship:keep up the good work. Peace for now, time for a smoke.(y)

Thank you and kindest regards KC>

thing is if you have a manifold then a crappy exhaust your gonna lose all the benefits youve gained a full system would be the best or you might get away with mani and back box

Cheers Dronenrs,
Your comments are much appreciated, so is the back box quite restrictive. Wish I could kind find some posts were peps have tried and tested, if there are any. Really not good at finding my way around this site, I know its me I'm **** with puters.

My thinking, and thoughts are all they are. Cant say I have to much experience with modding cars to be honest. Well here we go I was thinking due to these little beasts being of such a small displacement is there really any need with a larger bore exhaust, surely theres not that much back pressure. With an up-rated Mani being more free flowing then that would really do the buiseness, putting a larger bore exhaust such as mid section and back bow would really not make that much difference there after. Hope you get my point, say for conversation sake If I was to get a whole system(mani to back box) and say that would give 5 little ponnies. Then just a up-rated mani (something like Ashley, Ebay.)and old system would give 3.5 to 4 little ponies, then I would prop stick with my plan, the later of the two ideas.(PLEASE NOTE THESE FIGURES ARE ONLY FOR HYPOTHETICALLY REASONS.)

As said above really dont want a loud car, A little sleeper thats want im After. So the more stealth like the better. You may laugh but each to there own. Would be really helpfull if I could find a little more info eg. back to back test and maybe Dyno graphs to back it up. Obvisouly graphs not needed but all the more info the better. Even if people have just teasted/changed parts and have there opinons then thats great to!!! The more info' the better!!!

If this has been covered before, then sorry to bring up again, as previsoul said I'm very new to this and sh$£ with computer. If info is avaliable then pleease direct me? show link.

Hows your car getting on, you done much?

well the manifold that a lot of people seem to choose is the supersprint one so you may try lookin that one up. if you stick with standard exhaust make sure its in good nick. and ahem i aint got a car yet. i just work with cars at college  but the plan is to buy a yellow beastie when i can afford it.

hi richard,
cheers for the comment, can you explain why in a little more depth maybe. As I say all new to be so dont really know much.:)
regards.

dont do that:eek: my mum calls me richard;):p

ok a REALLY easy way to understand it is imagine a dual carriageway is your old standard manifold. now imagine a motorway is your nice shiney new 'performance' manifold, great you can get more stuff down a motorway than a dual carriage way right? right! now close off one lane of that motorway... your down to two lanes (i.e your performance manifold reaches your standard exhaust system)... closing this 'lane' creates slow moving traffic that backs up... that means youve got back pressure in your exhaust manifold... not good for an engine creating power, you want the gasflow in and out of an engine to be as smooth and as unrestricted as possible

any clearer?
