Hello to everyone.I'm new to the fiat scene and until last month was into vauxhalls in a big way however after selling my corsa gsi 2.0 16v i got a fiat seicento abarth for peanuts. The thing is the car is nippy but i defo need more power.I have had a look on sites and theres alot of cars that have a 1.2 16v/turbo but no guide to fitting it.What engines can i fit into seicento?.and has anyone got any guides that i can follow?.I will be fitting engine myself as i have with most of my cars.I already know if im going to upgrade engine the brakes and suspension etc are going to be replaced with parts that can handle the power. Also as im 31 insurance wont be a problem.I have seen online a 1.4 engine fitted into seicento what engine is this?.Im not sure what bhp im after but defo more than the 54 my car has now!.

theres 2, it could be the really old uno turbo engine conversion, or the 1.4 starjet conversion IIRC from the stilo/bravo (one of those)

threads on these are on forums :)

Hello again. Thanks for the tips.I was slighty disappointed with the 1.2 8v conversion.Hardly any bhp and lb gains over std!.:yuck:.i have a t reg seicento spi engine.

what sort of figures are you looking for?

dont know how modded your GSI was, but you can probably forget getting anywhere near the kind of figures it was pushing out if it was seriously modded.

You just wont get the power down in these cars and on corners they would be top heavy to hell. In short if you are thinking big bhp figures and torque then you will never see it.

You have to be realistic im afraid, the vx scene is a lot bigger and has more options than here

My gsi was 170bhp.I had a mini that was a 1293cc with around 90bhp and that went ok.I was thinking around that mark in the seicento.ive been reading alot about it today and its looking like 1.2 8v turbo route.i wouldnt want crazy boost either.Ive never had a turbo car its always been N/A so im defo tempted by the turbo route.:)

90/100 is easily acheivable and a good figure to aim for :)

To get around 90bhp from a 1242 8v needs a fast road cam, induction kit, sports exhaust from exhaust headers to back box & a decent 'sports' cat polished off with a remap. Though that won't deliver torquy power, it'll leave the engine needing to be reved to get the best from it. You can go low boost turbo & get that kind of power but with a lot more torque so it'll feel faster even though in a straight line it maybe a touch slower.

If you want big power then you're gonna need a big budget, it's that simple. It's not only on the engine, for every £10 I've spent on my engine I've spend circa £6 on the making the chassis capable of dealing that power down!

I'd be interested to know what you plumb for in the end. I'm aiming for similar power. I'm planning on turbo-ing the existing 1.1 SPI in mine rather than go the engine swap route.

Thats the route im gonna go.gotta love cammed engines!!.It should be fairly reliable.I will port and polish the head and i might look into a lighten flywheel. However only a fool doesnt change the brakes.I take it punto gt brakes fit?.Do they bolt straight on?.:D

Oooooo, I like the sound of those brakes. Would you have change the rears as well? And how about the brake lines etc? And the cost would be about what exactly?

I'm all questions aren't I.

Cheers

Front one is exactly bolt to bolt and can reuse olld brake line.

The rear will need a bracket, Rob from clubcento is selling them £30 a pair

Ming

Thanks a lot. Do you think you could keep the existing rears or would the balance be all out of whack?
