Hi first post and looking for help.

I have just got a cinquecento 998 sport. It runs fine at idle but will not drive feels like lack of fuel.

It has had plugs, leads, coil pack, airfilter, fuel filter.

Can any body guide me in the correct direction? What else is there?

cheers Mark

hi mate do you mean 998. or 1.1 sporting. i dnt think there is a 998 sport.

It is a Cinquecento S 899 according to the V5.

Throttle is ok as it revs up fine. It will go to all the way in neutral.

Head Gasket looks good no messy oil/water mix. TPS????

Can a lap top be plugged into this model?

You can't plug a laptop into it -- indeed, you can't just plug a laptop into anything!

There is a diagnostic socket, but the interface is wierd and not standards compliant -- dealer job. And, unless you're getting an error (little injector warning light) a complete waste of time and money.

TPS = throttle position sensor. It's in the throttle body. Probably easier/cheaper to get another TB from a scrappy.

If that doesn't work, compression test.

Ok replaced the TPS today No fix. So went to the scrap yard and got a complete throttle body. Fitted this and still no fix.

With the accelerator peddle held steady the rev's go up and down. almost to a stop then screaming.

what else can I do. It will be going to the scrap yard end of next week if I cant get it running.

It's likely to be either a leak in one of the vacuum hoses from the TB, one of the hoses attached to the wrong place (see the guide -- it's for a Sporting TB, but yours should be very, very similar), or a faulty MAP sensor.

It's really daft to take it to the scrappy: it's almost there.

Ok thanks for that I will ck the hoses later.

2 questions, where is " the guide" and is it a simple job to do the map sensor.

Just had a thought. on start up the ecu light comes on for a few seconds then goes out. Is this normal?

Right Now I am really P***d. Today I have Changed the crank sensor, the map sensor ( by the ecu but not blue) and the ECU. (All second hand parts. I do have another sensor and map)

Started the car after each stage and no better, it will run up the road but like a kangaroo.

So no I have replaced the above plus plugs, leads, fuel filter. What else is there? I am fed up it,s got till the weekend and then it go's:bang::bang:

Give me a Mini (Classic)any day:slayer:

Forgot to say

One coil pace been changed and both tested.

You'll be looking for a smooth change of variable resistance.

Cheers

GC

They were fine.

This IS my last question. I have just had the fuel line off and blown them through, there clear.

Checked fuel flow to engine and the flow on crank is erratic. good flow poor/no flow then good. As this is how the car is running was wondering if the pump displacement should be constant and this is the problem?

How much is a new pump or S/hand one?

Cheers, will stop bothering you all soon:D
