Its got to be easier than a Rover Vitesse. To ease access I remove the coil pack holder and remove all the wires from the TB. When you undo the starter motor. Leave the inside bolt in the hole. You don't need to move the starter motor, only unbolt it.
To take the shafts out, remove the top strut clamp bolt and loosen the lower one. You can then swing the upright far enough to allow the shaft to slide out of its cup. I then pop a poly bag over each spider and tiewrap the shafts out of the way.
There is no spigot bearing so you need to be careful aligning the driven plate.
You need to support the engine as you lower it down, there is only one mount left holding the engine once you've removed the two gearbox mounts. I unbolt the front mount from the gearbox, it makes it easier to line up for refitting. The rear mount, unbolt the whole thing from the floor.
Have fun
Cheers
