right just bought a cobra alarm and just working out where each wire goes.

got the cobra instructions that custard posted in the FAQ and it says connects the immobiliser to the orange cable coming from pin 86 of the fuel pump relay. ive looked at the wiring of the two relays in the engine bay and none of the cables are orange! :bang:

no problem as i can work out which cable it is from the pins on the relay, however, im stumped as to which relay is the fuel pump relay?

its MPI btw.

The fuel pump relay has Red/Green on pin 87, Pink on pin 30.(Relay contacts).
Orange/Black on pin 85, Brown on pin86.(Relay coil).
This is fed from a 20Amp fuse located behind the battery.

so i need to connect it to the brown cable. do you know which is the relay? the front or the back one? as you look at it

Not sure which one it is so look at the numbers on the back of the relays, they should coincide with the pin no's I quoted.
It looks to be the one next to a 7.5amp fuse under the dash.

Edit: Not under the dash. It's in the engine bay near the nearside suspension turret. I think.

do i need to cut the cable or just splice the alarm into that cable?

If the alarm has the immobiliser relay inside it then you have to cut the wire and connect them to the alarm terminals/wires.
If the relay is an external one, then cut the wire and extend them to inside the car and join to the short wires that are connected to the relay.

so the fuel pump relay is in the engine bay. that will help me locate the wire i need for the rev counter now i guess. obv connected to the wrong wire. oopsy daisy.
i was going to try and get the dash off to have a look for the supposed connector that is behind the central vent shaft. but to much hassle i think.

If you take the dash centre control panel off you can get to a large bunch of wires behind it.

i wish i could check but i kinda crashed my sei. but if thats nt there. i have to connect the light blue wire from the counter to a wire that comes fro the fel pump relay. just i cant find the fuel pump relay. hmmf.

when i fitted mine i accessed the fuel pump wire in the passenger side under the dash

would it be possible for someone to take a picy of the fuel pump relay in a sei or cinq for me please. i seem to be unable to find it. prob cos im lacking in common sense and knowledge. but would help. lol.
