Hi guys,

Today I was driving my '99 sei sporting when all of a sudden whenever I applied the brakes it made a large clunking sound. After that I could hear what can only be described as a rubbing sound from the drivers side front wheel as I was driving. After that I stopped and checked the front tyre and there was black dust on the alloy and what can only be described as the smell of burning plastic.

Is the pad gone or could it be something more sinister? I'm going to get it checked out by my Dad's mate tomorrow but before I do that anybody got any ideas as to what it might be. I last got my brakes changed about 18 months ago so I dont know if thats the issue.

Either you've done the pads and/disks or you've just picked some rubbish (paper or a plastic bag).

It's wise to check the pads every 3 months or so.

ive been reading lately of a few cases of friction material breaking away from the backing plate so you cant just assume new ish pads/shoes are okay
