Hi there

New here, :) I found you completely by accident looking for info on a seicento sporting.

Can anyone help please..

The rad sprung a leak and we put radweld in only to find it wasnt very successful. (n)

Now we have ordered a new rad,but not quite sure how to put it in,is there a Haynes manual for this car??

Or could someone help in giving me a run down on replacing the radiator, (y)

Your help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks.

not really hard, just awkward.never done the sei ,so im sure someone who,s done it will give a reply.
i would say it would be easiest to take the front bumper off(easy just a few screws)
you most likely will need to remove the cooling fan to ease removing the rad,(again not too tricky)
then its just a case of undoing the hoses and clips(i assume) to remove the rad'
i would suggest changing the thermostat since you will be draining the coolant anyway.
theres no haynes for the sei but the cinq one would most likely be close enough for engine jobs
welcome to the forum as well

Further to whats already been said, I would also recommend flushing the whole system out to get rid of any rad weld in the system as you will not need it with a new rad, and can find it lowers the boiling point of the coolant. Plus by flushing the system you will remove any debris, rust etc that can clog up the new rad causing hot spots which may well be why the old rad sprang a leak.

And welcome to the forum.

Ive done it on my Cinq - there isnt really a need for taking the front bumper off if you remove all the underlining stuff beneath the radiator and then undo the 2 bolts holding it in on the right hand side of the rad.

then undo the 3 bolts holding the fan framework on - remembering to undo its power cable and then the rad will slide out underneath the car.

it took me about 2 hours to do and about 30 mins of that was trying to get the rad out without removing the plastic protection stuff underneath.

If its the first time the hoses have been off, you will need to get new ones as the nice guys at fiat decided to use unreplaceable ones.

Front bumper removal isnt necessary. Just swapped my rads over this morning (Sporting rad to 899cc).

Would just advise to remove arch lining and get a 2nd person to come and help heft the blighter back into place!

Oh...and the bleed pipe can be stubborn. Would recommend removing the bleed valve totally (just a tiny clip), drop the rad sufficiently to gain access to the other end of the bleed pipe, disconnect that end, then swap the rads, feed the hose back up and reconnect the bleed valve!

or, before you remove the bleed valve, tie some string to it, and then as you pull the valve through the wing make sure the string doesn't go all the way through. untie it before you pull the rad totally off.

when putting the new rad in, reattach the string - and use it to pull the bleed valve up through the wing (y)

hi, i did the rad, i took the bumper off in then end, i thort it was probly easier. it was ok to do and my old rad was really bad, there was practiclly no bottom to it. lol. leats its done now.

cheers for advice

Are you aware that there is a Sei manual in the downloads section?
