Was driving around the other day and when I shifted into 3rd gear, and pushed the peddle to the floor my Bravo lost its acceleration/power; the turbo was running on all bars on the display ( full bore) but the rev's where only climbing very slowly - it's like I was bogged down.

When i got home I had a look at the brake switch and it seams to have decent travel, so I assume its not that.

The problem seams to happen every now and then in most gears around 3k when I demand full power.

Took it to Fiat for a diagnoses, no fault codes found and when road tested to check parameters they found that when the fault was present the throttle pedal sensor was not responding - they said they suspect an internal fault WTF does that mean?

Anyone have a similar issue with their T-Jet, or have any idea what might be creating this intermittent fault??

yes, mines done this since new, more in second and feels more like clutch slip, happens also when in sport and cruising around 60 in 6th and you accelerate to go that bit quicker, again like clutch slip. what causes it I don't know, one theory was some sort of pressure build up or something.

Yeah clutch slip is a good description of the sensation, surely there must be a fix. Have you tried anything to remedy it so far?

If you've had this issue from new, surely you'd take it back to the dealer and ask for it to be fixed or replace the car!!! That's ridiculous

it went back to the dealer more than once for this clutch slip, never remedied. clutch isn't the problem as I've done over 50k on the clutch, and to be honest, I don't drive it that aggressive to make it do it. the motorway thing only happens when in sport mode to

Do you still have any of the garages observations or conclusions from when it was tested ?

Its the exhaust design which causes this, I used to get it before I had a replacement cat back installed. if you look at the back box, the end of the system double backs up on its self which causes the back pressure when accelerating to the maximum.

Get a new cat back system and this will disappear. Hope this helps :D

Did you replace the hole system? Or just the back box or just the cat? I'd like to avoid replacing the whole system if possible as that would be $$$$

Black Stilo - are you still running a stock exhaust system on your T-Jet?

yeah I replaced from cat back, cost me £400 in total from longlife exhausts
What's the noise like, in the cabin? I've had my exhaust system done on a PUG 306 XSI hatchback and the drone was mind numbing, the kids and my lady refused to ride in it due to the noise.

Just to confirm; you didn't replace/remove the cat, just everything after it.

Got any pictures of your current set up?

If you're looking for a replacement system I can recommend a garage in Leeds, makes it while you wait at a mere £280 all in price. That includes a 10 year warranty. Stainless steel, don't forget to inform your insurance company though. Lol

As I'm in New Zealand I think the cost to get my Bravo to Leeds may outweigh the benefits! Ha-ha As for insurance, I don’t see the point in telling them, if they ever had an issue with it I ‘d just say the old one had a hole in it, and this is want the garage replaced it with. Exhausts get replaced all the time :D

I realised after I'd wrote the message you were in NZ, lol. I know it sounds bonkers about informing insurance companies, but as mine is custom made of stainless, best not take the risk over here. Insurance companies find the silliest of excuses not to pay out. Hopefully I won't be making a claim anytime soon.
Be good.

Can you tell me, as yours is the sport, do you have a switch under the city mode switch for for the electric boot release.
The reason I ask, I was fitting a Bluetooth hands free kit, had the dash all out and looking for an ignition live, when I was feeling around the connector with my tester, the boot popped open. Obviously the wiring is there for it in mine, but not the switch. Hmmm?

I don't have city mode, just "SPORT" and no "boot release" button in the car........ I've been short changed!

Ok after doing loads of reading and analysing others symptoms/situations I think I’ve the answer. I believe that this issue is derived from the wastegate being forced open by backpressure and/or sticking. When the issue is present the engine light doesn’t come on because the wastegate is pressure/spring activated and not tied into the ECU, all the ECU will be thinking during the event is “induction pressure is not too high – keep boosting” but all this is because the exhaust pressure is pissing out the wastegate.

But I could be wrong! Thoughts?
