I have recently had some EGR issues and have decided to replace it. I did and after fitting the new EGR when I switched on the car... no engine just electrics I get this weird high pitched noise, previous EGR didn't do that, think it was clicking once or twice then nothing. Also... as I was looking around I saw some wires which were just hangging there... I filmed the whole thing to make it easier for one of you exprets to give me a hand:)

At start you can hear the nosie as soon as I switch on the electrics, filmed the wired and then I switched off the car and noise goes off.

I called the FIAT dealer and told them I changed the EGR and about the noise and they said to book it in... would rather skip the visit.

Any help is much appreciated it.

Does it start & run or not?

EGR change is simple job, just 1 plug... those you found might just be for something not fitted to your car, try asking Deckchair5 about them.

Are you sure it's the EGR whistling not the fuel pump priming?

Aye this is the new EGR valve which is making the noise. Car starts and runs as normal but it would do that even if the EGR valve was taken off:)

And you removed the blanking plate when you fitted the new EGR of course...?

Ha... you know what I probably didn't:) Would that make a difference since the engine isn't even turned on just the electrics? I was going to keep the blanking valve on anyhow, just wanted to fit the new EGR so the engine light goes off.

My Mjet makes that noise when I turn the engine off, it lasts about a minute then goes off. Its done it since new so I assumed it was a pump or something.

I did a bit of research on google just looked for EGR whistling noise:) and its eems quite a few do it.

If you have the engine cover on you can't really hear it anymore, if you inside teh car not a chance. You gotta be there next to it. You saw in the clip even moving the camera further up it was doing it. Since my odl EGR seems to be fulty I cannot test this out so only if someone else on here can check.

Also any ideas about that cable with the pink yellow heads? Isn't that supposed to go anywhere?
