Can any one help, My '58' Bravo 1.4 Tjet Sport as a pain in the ...... Squeal from the brakes. Any ideas what the issue could be, I have noted that the rear wheels are becoming covered in brake dust quicker than the front.

Any help much appreciated?

Welcome to the Fiat Forum!

It sounds like your front pads have worn out or close to it. 70% of braking is done on the front wheels. Alternatively the front calipers may be seized.

The brakes would benefit from a strip, clean out with brake cleaner & a good brush, then re-assembly using a copper based grease on the back of the pads (maybe replace them if below half left) also smear the same copper based grease on any part the metal backing of the pad that touches the caliper, but NOT THE DISC OR BRAKE PAD SURFACE!

If you are unsure, dont attempt it, leave it to a professional. Depending on condition it may also be sensible to replace the disc rotors themselves too...

I would say that your rear pads have become stuck/seized in the carriers, and will need removing and inspecting.... depending on your finding's

You should just be able to clean up the pad body and also clean up the carrier slide plates and re-grease.

And if do some searching on tinternet you should be able to find a anti-noise solution that you put on the pad face this also aids in eliminating the noise.

All that said it could be simply as others have said your pads are no longer and require replacement.

Mines do it as well. Had a brake squeal, fronts were 70% worn. Had them replaced last service, and now the squeal is back. So when it goes for its next service, if they need replaced again, I know something is up with them. My advice would be to get the condition of them checked out. If they're good, don't worry too much.

I'm not sure if Kwik Fit still do it, but they used to do a free brake check. Although not sure i'd trust everything they say =\ lol

Yeah sounds about right. I took my old Fiesta in there for a Brake check. The guys eyes lit up until I said, "I've recently replaced the discs and pads, just wanna make sure everything is kosher. It's a little bit spongey but I'm pretty sure it just needs the system bleeding". He was like =[ Someone that knows what a car is lol
